Jack Nicklaus: swing slower to hit it farther ⛳️
Jack Nicklaus says swinging harder speeds up everything except the one thing that matters, the clubhead. In a good swing, speed builds in sequence from the hips to the chest to the arms to the club, and a hard swing from the top throws the hands first and releases the club early. Slower doesn’t mean a slow downswing, since most tour players keep roughly a 3 to 1 backswing to downswing ratio. It means not rushing the transition and letting a full arc build the speed. Jack won the 1963 PGA Championship long drive contest at 341 yards with a wooden driver, then won the tournament that same week.

Mr. Nicklaus absolutely transformed the game. Tiger took the mantle and went even farther, but Jack was the original game changer.
