Jack Nicklaus Golf Swing: 4 Forgotten Keys
Jack Nicklaus built one of the most powerful and accurate golf swings in history—but some of his advice sounds very different from modern golf instruction.
In this video, I revisit four keys from Jack’s Golf My Way full-swing lesson:
Keep your feet lively
Eliminate tension with soft forearms
Complete the backswing
Move left and release the club immediately
The fourth key may be the most controversial. While golfers today are often told to hold the lag, Jack believed the club couldn’t be released too soon—as long as the downswing began by moving onto the left side.
Taken together, these ideas reveal a free, athletic swing built around movement, rhythm, power and accuracy. Have we forgotten some of Jack’s best ideas?
