Phil Teaches His Impossible Shot

Phil Teaches His Impossible Shot

Phil Teaches His Impossible Shot

The backwards flop shot is one of the most improbable shots in golf — and Phil Mickelson is the only man who’s mastered it. Here he breaks down how it actually works: laying the face wide open so the ball climbs almost straight up, and sending it out the opposite direction of the swing.

Fair warning: this is a “do not try this at your local course” situation. But watching the greatest short-game artist ever explain his magic is the next best thing to having his hands.

  1. Gets more thrill out of this than playing conservative when he needed to win majors. Most pissed away majors trying idiotic shots than anybody.

  2. Oh Phil, if you could just contain the risk taking a little bit! It's so very disappointing, I always rooted for you as a kid, you were one of my heroes, even after the gambling stuff I hoped you'd learn and grow, come back stronger, and now we all have lived long enough to see you turn into a villian. Just think about how many more majors, how much more money, how many less creeped out women and hush-money payouts? You could have had it all Phil, you just always needed more excitement, needed the rush, like an addict, and now I have to turn my back on you.

  3. This is when he was the darling of Golf
Now he’s just a shadow of the man he was and probably more evil than that
