Can LIV Golf’s Latest “SURVIVAL PLAN” Actually Work?

1. LIV golf has two chances at survival, slim and none and slim just left the building.

2. I love LIV. I went to liv Michigan last year, it was awsome! The golf establishment is too strong. The monopoly wins like it usually does. Losing the Asian tour was probably the death knell. I wish that there could have been a merger. The liv international events are spectacular. It could have been good for golf, it would have elevated the existing pgat events that haven’t lost their sponsorships.

3. Is sad is a pretty good league in my opinion. For me more entertaining than the regulars PGA events.

4. Scott O’Neal was totally blindsided by the Asian Tour’s deal with the PGA Tour & DP World Tour and only learned about that deal when it was announced publicly. Given that the Asian Tour was a key part of LIV getting the ability to offer OWGR points to its players and a key asset in its pitch to investors. For O’Neal to have no clue that he was going to lose an important piece of LIV’s ability to offer OWGR points is incompetence. What investor would put money into an organization run with such incompetence. How much can an entity be worth that has no revenue streams to financially support events with even scaled down prize money. It costs a lot more than just the prize money to conduct a pro golf event and ticket sales even for successful events don’t begin to cover operating cost even with scaled down prize money.

5. It is total bullsh*t that PGA Tour players are making more money becsuse of LIV. The Tour couldn’t increase prize money if it didn’t have a source of additional money to fund increased prize money. The Tour was only able to increase prize money because in 2021 they negotiated a new media rights deal that started in 2022 and runs through 2030 and increased broadcast revenue under that contract by 70% to $700M annually. Had that increased broadcast revenue not come about, the Tour would not have been able to increase prize money over previous levels. Given that the Tour is a tax-exempt, non-profit entity, that increased broadcast revenue was going to increase prize money regardless of LIV’s existence. The Tour has no owners or shareholders, so the increased broadcast revenue had to stay within the Tour and could only be used to fund Tour expenses, like event prize money. So, it is a total fallacy that LIV caused Tour prize money to increased.

6. LIV never figured out how to broadcast their tournament . They had terrible coverage and shitty announcers . They needed someone that knew how to produce a show !

7. Good riddance, getting what they deserve, trying to bankrupt the PGA tour, screw them and all those golfers no one cares about anyways

8. I live in the neighborhood where they hold the Indianapolis event (Chatham Hills). Some grandstands have been put up but as of now it is scaled back from what they had last year. There are still several weeks to go so I'll keep checking in to see if anything is added.

9. One change I would make with golf going forward. PGA could use better TV production for its events. The one thing LIV did do well was the hype train with thier production. PGA could use a shot of that.

11. I dislike the PGAT. It's changed from the 70's 80' and 90's. It's woke, political pushing with tv commercials, controlling, monopoly taking advantage of us who only watch because of certain players we like. The TV broadcasts are terrible. If LIV goes away, I will not watch PGAT golf and hope there are some replays on youtube to watch when the few players I enjoy, because of their great ability and demeaner. I love watching Byson and a few others. I like watching the LIV, since they show alot of golf and a lot of players, they have great announcers,

    PGAT announcers pompus arogant and its all about there pet players like Rorey or whatever person they choose. can't stand to watch. PGAT golf is dead for me and many folks. They don't get it,

    I love to play and dreams of being pro, as a 2 handicapper now, and playing for 50 years started as farm kid junior golfer with kmart half of a set clubs,not part of the small "in crowd" growing up watching palmer and all the greats.

    Taught all my kids and they played junior golf. Now it is so expensive and customer unfriendly (sort of always was like that from the arrogant pros and many courses) Families can't afford to play. I can't afford to play now. I could win and have won many senior culb championships and medaled some state events. It's sad to see the end of golf. LIV got me back to watching, Bryson definitely causes me to watch when he's playing if they choose to show him.

    I hope PGAT fails, so that they get the message it needs to change. Young folks will not get in unless folks like Bryson help youngsters and families see golf's value and prices need to come down.

    I hate to see it. My kids were playing at the height of golf in the late 90's and earlier 2000's.

    The old power mongers in golf need to get out and the bryson's in the world, many other's need to help refprm/infuence it.

    I just watched an hour of bryson's break the course record in canada. WAY BETTER THAT ANY NORMAL PGAT EVENT. Way to go bryson! With him doing what he is doing, PGAT would not be where it is at. And they are arrogant and controlling that can't stand any competition and they cannot see that he is making golf better. Well this fan says so long to PGAT, if they do not figure it out.

12. LIV golf forced the PGA to adjust its system and beliefs. Many of the adjustments were due to losing your big stars and legends. If LIV goes under, the players who stayed on the PGA should appreciate the guys who were willing to try something different

13. Just let it die and move on, they tried, it didn’t work, the model was never sustainable, sponsors didn’t really bite neither did TV, and the format and competition was a joke.

14. it was a bold move to take on a golf monopoly like the pga tour even with the huge sums of cash given to LIV it was bound to fail, don't care who you support golf either on the pga tour or LIV is all about mostly arrogant individuals earning insane amounts of money playing a sport that 99% of us pay a lot of money to enjoy

15. TGL's problem is not TEAM golf, it is INDOOR golf. Golf's basic appeal is its wild, unpredictable, seductive natural setting. Enough canned, staged sports events. Bowling, anyone?

21. These 2 "Journalists" have NO IDEA about what LIV is going to do, and quite frankly have no business putting this crap on a YouTube channel… It's all conjecture, rumor, and opinion, NOT FACTS. What they are doing is a reason why LIV struggles. There is a SYSTEMATIC collusion of rules, pathways, PGAT LOBBY, and especially media divisiveness against LIV (AS COMPETITION TO THE PGA TOUR). The OWGR is a great example of this collusion… It took 4 years for a player to get recognized, and even then, their recognition of points is only a FRACTION of the OWGR ability. That's what happens when the "SYSTEM" is run and overseen by the likes of the PGA Tour, USGA, R&A, etc. … LIV did not stand a chance against this "Establishment" (I didn't want to use the term "Old, white, Country Club guys" <Wink>)

22. LIV Golf introduced us to other countries besides the US. Golf is worldwide. Shotgun schedule and team play also were great. The PGA Tour is soooo boring now, I don't watch it anymore. The telecast all boring. The anouncers all are boring and have their own favorites.

    We need LIV golf.

23. Liv has ZERO CHANCE. I know you need to make up SOMETHING to talk about, but LIV has no chance. Talk about who would be dumb enough to invest in it. That's a great place to start.

29. LIV is and always was an exhibition event. Thats all its worth. It will be forgotten quickly. Players left PGA for the cash not because its a serious competition
