How Tight was Tiger Woods’ Golf Grip?

How Tight was Tiger Woods’ Golf Grip?

There’s an old story about Tiger Woods at his first master’s dinner talking about how tightly he held the club compared to everybody else and it’s always been something that has stuck in my mind and the more I continue to experiment with it the more I realize how much tiger actually did things very different than everybody else who was a great at the game. The more I continue to experiment the more I feel that my trail arm wrist and grip must be firm throughout the swing which is the exact opposite of what Ben Hogan wrote about in his book Five Lessons

  1. When are we supposed to loosen our wrists to allow release in the downswing? Are we also loosening our trail grip and right arm to allow release through impact?

  2. Could you be doing what Homer Kelly in "The Golfing Machine" refers to as "extensor action" where the left arm is kept very straight by the right arm TRYING to remain straight throughout the ENTIRE swing? Of course, the right arm cannot remain straight indefinitely. But it continues to exert a tug on the left arm, which should remain straight letting "the power package remain intact."

  3. Glad to see this. Ive had people telling me to grip lighter and what not but I swing very wide like this with very high club head speeds and it's been ruining my swing to try and grip lighter
