Rory McIlroy: “Better. No Profanity Today” After Moving Back Into Contention
Rory McIlroy reacts after his third round at the 2026 PGA Championship, where he continued to climb back into the tournament after a frustrating opening day at Aronimink.
After describing Thursday’s round in very blunt terms, Rory jokingly says Saturday was “better” and that there would be “no profanity today.” He explains how he went to the range to work on his driver, found a better feeling in transition and has driven the ball much better over the last two days.
McIlroy also talks about setting small targets to stay focused, why he feels he has done enough to still have a chance on Sunday, and how Aronimink became more scoreable with different wind, more generous hole locations and players becoming more comfortable with the course.
He also gives an honest view of the setup, saying the course can frustrate players but creates an entertaining championship, and reveals he plans to watch the leaders while finishing one of his go-to movies: The Dark Knight.

Not to bring Liv in and I am not a Liv hater but man did its imminent collapse wake up all of them just look how many on the leaderbard here. And all that talk how they dont play on hard enough courses yet this is the hardest yet this year and look at them… It just shows how if you cut purses of everyone we'd have much better golf haha All these guys are way overpaid.
Rory is going to be closer to the lead than he may have thought. Nice for Smalley having the lead but it sure is tough for inexperienced guys to finish. Would love to see former UW Husky Nick Taylor get a win – or Aberg – a guy from the same town as my cousin in Sweden!
