Rory McIlroy Fires Back at LIV: “This Is the Place to Be”

Rory McIlroy reflects on his improved second round at the Truist Championship, where sharper iron play and a streak of 14 straight greens helped push him back into contention heading into the weekend. McIlroy explains how limited tournament reps over the last seven weeks affected his rhythm and why he feels his game is improving each day at Quail Hollow. He also delivers strong comments on the future of LIV Golf, the PGA Tour, and whether LIV players should return, saying: “If you want to be the most competitive golfer you can be, this is the place to be.”

  1. Rory is right for sure. The PGA Tour is the best place to be to be competitive. I'm a fan of LIV and how it brings a bit of fun and showmanship to the game that is different than the traditional PGA Tour tournaments. Also hear some very very good things on how LIV treats caddies and players alike different behind the scenes, and how each tournament is a very pleasant top class experience. But, that being said, LIV has seemed to ruin the golfing abilities of great players like Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, and Cameron Smith. Bryson seems to be the only one who is able to play well in majors as a full time LIV guy. Actually Tyrell Hatton too has been very impressive! But that's about it.

  2. STFU spoiled cry baby, can't even play 2 or 3 weeks in a row because it's too hard to walk on soft pristine fairways while your caddy carries your bag. Pro golf is like a walk in the park. They have trainers, massage, nutritionist, mental coach, sauna, ice baths, huge $$$$ ,,,,so hard to walk 18 holes with my legs 😢. Give me a FKN BREAK 😮

  3. In a sense the PGA is less interesting given the impending demise of Liv. Always good to have some competition to make things seem more important but now it's heading back to business as usual. I am not saying the liv was much competition but it made things more interesting for a while

  7. Rory is such a hypocrite, he tried to start a "premier league" and then gave in on the idea. Also, this is the guy that turned his back on European Tour to play PGAT for the money.

  9. Follow Rory on the back 9 and Quail today. I was absolutely disgusted with the amount of teenage frat boys talking shit about Rory. Of course, I bet none of them are below a 25 handicap, but it still is baffling. They must be mad he whoops America every other year in Ryder cup…
