In the opening round of the 2026 Cadillac Championship, Jordan Spieth shoots a 7-under 65, his lowest round of 2026 and best opening round since 2023. He trails by one shot heading into Friday.
The PGA TOUR heads back to the iconic Trump National Doral for the Cadillac Championship, marking the return of the famed “Blue Monster” for the first time since 2016. As the first of back-to-back Signature Events leading into the season’s second major, the field is stacked, led by world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who arrives in strong form after a playoff loss at the RBC Heritage and consecutive runner-up finishes. There’s plenty of firepower behind him. Collin Morikawa continues a red-hot run of results, while Cameron Young brings elite form highlighted by a win at THE PLAYERS Championship. Meanwhile, Chris Gotterup remains one of the standout performers of 2026 with multiple victories already this season. A major storyline comes from Alex Fitzpatrick, who earned entry into this Signature Event run after teaming with brother Matt Fitzpatrick to win the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Past success at Doral also returns to the spotlight, with Adam Scott, the 2016 winner back on the Blue Monster, joined by former champion Justin Rose. With FedExCup points, Signature Event status and major momentum all on the line, the Blue Monster once again presents one of the TOUR’s toughest and most iconic tests.

Honest question here…what is with the constant Speith hype? I get that he had a great start to his career but that was a long time ago. Personally, I find his slow play hard to watch but have nothing against him as he seems like a genuine and nice guy. I just find the constant hype any time he has a round under par odd
