  1. Last I knew this wasn’t legal. Cause he can test the sands conditions which could help him with his shot. Plus he’s also improving his lie. Which I think is also against the rules from the sand

  2. A bunker is a hazard. A pro can't get relief from a ball being in a fairway divot but gets relief in a bunker. So stupid.

  3. the only reason this is allowed is because both players hit into the bunker at the same time. The other player hit first and changed the original conditions of the bunker from how it was when Mickelson's ball landed. You are allowed and required to recreate the lie your ball had when it landed if it is disturbed by another player taking their shot. This is the only time you are ever allowed to rake the sand before your shot. The chance of two PGA golfer hitting into the same bunker and the balls being so close one golfers shot affecting the others lie is so rare you are likely never going to see it happen again in your lifetime

  4. The previous play didn't affect his lie. Video evidence. Phil improves his lie by fluffing sand behind his ball. If everyone is honest about this situation he should NEVER be allowed to do this. Everyone involved should be sanctioned and fined. No honesty on the part of Phil here. The only reason would be the previous player left his footprints affecting a shot by Phil. This video doesn't explain the situation in enough detail. CLICK BAIT

  5. There is no way that Phil Mickelson would have been allowed to rake that sand himself because that's classed as testing the lie.

If such a rule exists that allows a lie to be restored then that would have to be done by somebody else

  6. You are allowed to play your ball in the exact condition that it was laying. If someone throws sand on your ball you get to fix it.
