Press pause at 3.37. The driver shaft backwards bow is incredible. Great view of hands through impact. Well done.

Look how close to the middle of his stance the ball is at setup. I might have mine too far forward.

Justin is a good golfer. I just don't like how he acts if the ball doesn't go where he wanted it to. The game is a game of misses. I can't wait for him and Tiger to be in the final group and watch Justin crumble under pressure!!

I would normally agree 100% but this is a high speed camera I don't think that's all a trick.

Justin Thomas golf grip

Most of golf teachers tell you to have light pressure in right hand, but JT obviously puts a lot. His right finger tips are turning white.

At setup, his right elbow pit is a little closed unlike Rory & DJ, their right elbows are turn totally open even a little backward.
If the two hands pressure points are totally aligned with the shaft line, the club shaft would bent backward. Only the two hands roll at different ways, then a torgue resulted, the centrifugal force of club head and the side extra rotation of club head lie angle would force the head to go before the shaft. This means the head goes faster than the shaft weight center.

Justin Tomas do this after the shaft goes horizontal.
Rory do this after the right hand pass the elbow.
DJ do this until the left arms goes vertically straight.

The handle still leads the upper part of the shaft at the point where the hands have returned approximately to their position at address. I've heard that called "shaft lean." For about 4 inches or so on either side of that position, it appears that the handle is moving parallel left of the target line with very little forearm rotation. There is body rotation. That's also true in the "hands at impact" videos of Adam Scott(driver), Rickie Fowler (driver), Brandt Snedeker (iron), and others in this series. Amateur golfers who hit their irons fat might want to practice maintaining shaft lean through impact on the range.

The handle doesn't lead the club head at the same point because at a certain point in the downswing the weight of the head has caused the shaft to flex forward, toward the target.

I learned from the "hands at impact" videos and enjoyed them very much. Thank you.
