She Got handed a whole lot of money and wasnt very hungry to win because of it.
As Yogi Berra said, the sport is 90% mental and the other 50% physical. That Men's PGA Tour stuff was ok for a one time thing, but then she was trying to hit the ball 300yds like the men. She's not only a great natural talent, but she's also a woman for Pete's sake. It really would be like asking Tiger, at those young ages, to begin in earnest competing in long-drive Championships. It ruined her.
She was supposed to be the female Toger Woods!!! I remember all the hype about Wie. Let's see how that turned out. Tiger 109 total wins, 15 majors. Wie 5 wins, 1 major. She tempted the golfing gods and judgement was given….
So Michelle’s wrist is Achille’s heel.
Change to Tennis or Baseball
She was a major disappointment, never lived up to her hype. She was a one-hit wonder. ⛳👎🏿
Michelle wants more "people of color" in the LPGA, but it is dominated by POC They have golfers from Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand & Mexico. ⛳👍
Maybe she tried too much to compete with men causing to her injuries. Hopefully she will be able to come back playing professionally again. 🙂
Leadbetter fuked her swing
It wasn’t her dad
Erica Blasberg at 1:35 – I think Michelle is doing ok when you consider the pressure put on these young athletes.
RIP Erica.
Probably the biggest bust in either golf …LPGA and PGA in the media's eyes, they build her up she had nothing to do with it….you go Michelle I wish nothing but the best for you PT LPGA player or Analyst for golf channel.
She married a man with a very rich father. She's doing great!
Got weed in by some banker. Got a kid, couldn't care less about golf
Not only her injuries derailed her but I tend to think that Leadbetter and all the tinkering they have done to what was a beautiful swing has hurt her game. They keep tinkering and changing. Should have fired Leadbetter and stuck with Gilcrist. Even Lydia Ko fired/left Leadbetter for all the time he spends with Wie, and Ko was ranked #1!
Her first car was a Bentley, she got it before she had her license. Why am I supposed to feel bad for her?
Go Michelle whatever you choose to do I wish you success
Never Liked her! Her head was never in the right place. she could have been great, but she spent too much on trying to hit the ball longer than everyone (maybe to compete with the men), and injured herself.
What happened to Lexi Thompson
That's a tough burden to bear, being the female Tiger Woods.
Even with all her setbacks and injuries, she's still better than you.
I have met people that have met her and have ABSOLUTELY nothing good to say about her! She would use profanity and degrade her caddies. She also would be denigrating to wait staff when she would visit here … got this from wait staff. Swearing and not tipping at all. I’m-sure there there aren’t a lot of people that miss her. Good riddance!!!!
that's too much pressure for such a young golf prodigy, hope she and family are doing great!
Michelle did a lot for women's golf. She took them from hideously ugly to totally doable.
Well, what REALLY happened, is this: Her swing created too much torque for her body to handle. A Tiger Woods type swing and, while she's tall, she actually has a petite build to her.
So much torque causes a player with any weakness at all to get injuries. And if you DON'T have weaknesses, the torque may CAUSE weaknesses. Think about it: Tiger Woods had AT LEAST 4 knee surgeries that I know of. And various other injuries, including his lower back. Michelle ended up hurting her wrist at the age of 16, and from there it was one injury after another. She's a gamer and always tried to come back.
But the wrist injury actually belied the lower back injury. She had to change her swing, but her athleticism just didn't allow for her body to handle the damage that was already caused, and things got worse. Did she get acupuncture/needling to treat the injury? I don't know. Never heard that she DID, though.
Quite frankly, it didn't help that so many people ripped her apart for various reasons. As if a woman playing in a PGA event were some sort of catastrophe instead of fantastic achievement. Damn near made 2 cuts on the PGA tour, one, she missed the cut despite shooting 4 under!
But, in the end the athleticism she possessed turned out to be her Achilles heel. Now there is a young lady from Thailand, Patty Tavatanakit, with similar talent, but not hounded by moron reporters. She's about as physically fit as it gets, and she really works on her body, so perhaps that swing speed won't hinder her. We'll see. Patty T is not as gifted…YET…but she may have the body to handle the torque…which is tremendous.
So, yes, I love me some Michelle Wie. I wish her the best. What a great story it would be for her to win again on tour. And you know what? I think she will.
Yea, we finally have a woman who can compete with the men and and even beat them!
Shit, never mind!
Eh, she's not one of my favorites. Trying to play on the men's and couldn't even win on the women's. I Don't think she's special or talented
She grew up to be really pretty
I don’t understand why Nike keep sponsoring her, there are like 100s of better players what ain’t so self entitled
She’s hateful acting
She was feeble bodied and weak minded. Those characteristics combined with her parents programming of her for golf yielded a mediocre life in golf. Her bailing on LPGA events either before or during proved she lacked character and moral fiber. You can’t come back to a place you’ve never been.
This poor lady just flat burned out. Thanks in large part to her nutty father.
Too much hype and pressure
That prediction at the end didn’t hold up very well…
Never reached the heights the premature hype promised…to much publicity not much results…
When I noticed there was a huge problem with her, it was around 2016
She acted entitled off the course.. my friend at the time worked in a hotel and it was near a golf course the lpga was holding a tournament. Many golfers and their caddies had rooms.. then she walked in. Demanding a room. When my friend asked how many people, 1 or 2 or whatever, she went into a rage, demanding a room and threatening to sue him for emotional damage.. when his boss heard her yelling ( his boss is a short Asian woman who doesn’t take anything from anyone) she approached wie and asked what happened. Wie decided to lie and say my friend sexually assaulted her and stole from her… the boss says ok, let me call police and we can check these 2 security cameras to see if that’s true.. it wasn’t. Boss told her to leave and she’s banned from staying there. Wie decided to elbow a girl on her way out ( my friend’s girlfriend) and left..
My friend told me there was so much alcohol in her breathing he nearly gagged.
I’ve seen her entitled behavior 1st hand. I’m glad she’s not golfing anymore.
I am a Marine Veteran who spent 5 months in Korea in 1987. Though I was in the field alot I really fell in love with Korea and its people. I became a Deputy Sheriff and it was an honor to provide security for Michelle while she golfed in a tournament in South Florida. 🇺🇸🇰🇷!
