Adam Scott’s Advice to Rory McIlroy: The Champions Dinner Bill is Brutal!

Winning the Green Jacket is every golfer’s dream, but does it come with a nightmare price tag? Former Masters Champion Adam Scott has finally opened up about the “hidden” cost of winning at Augusta: the Champions Dinner bill.

As the defending champion for the 2026 Masters, Rory McIlroy is currently planning his menu (Irish Stew and Wagyu, anyone?), but Adam Scott’s past experience with “Moreton Bay Bugs” and premium Australian Wagyu serves as a cautionary tale. We break down the reported costs—which can reach over $200 per plate—and why the defending champ is responsible for the entire tab, including the world-class wine cellar!

Whether you’re grinding to get to Scratch at 50 or just love Augusta National lore, this deep dive into golf’s most exclusive (and expensive) dinner is a must-watch.

In this video:

Adam Scott’s legendary 2014 menu and the logistics of flying in “Bugs.”

Why some champions (like Bubba Watson) chose “cheaper” options.

Will Rory McIlroy break the record for the most expensive bill in 2026?

  1. It’s a strange custom. Win the Masters have enjoy the rights to host a dinner for all the previous winners and members the following year , and pick up the bill . How is that a dinner in your honour ?

The likes of Phil Mickelson was known to be very generous ….. with other people’s money when it came to dinners etc

You might pick up a decent cheque for winning (great now, about 4 million ) but between taxes, bills to pay for caddies coaches and their bonuses , agents and the demand to live a certain lifestyle (PGA and co frown upon their best players staying in motels or cheap hotels ) and the woeful leaching tip culture .. that money dwindles . .. Not an issue if you are scoring well with sponsors and endorsements but what if you don’t win a tournament dor another 3-4 years ?

  2. Nice guy, he deserved to win more majors and maybe he still will. The reporters asking questions don’t seem to know anything about the game.

  3. Adam Scott is such a stand up guy and a gentleman 👏. I think 50% of golfers would probably be annoyed at some of these questions

  4. I didn’t hear Adam being asked to give Rory any advice, so my advice to him would be to try to not be his usual pricky self.

  5. Who cares what he spends on it. I would break the bank if I won the Masters last year and I'm sure Rory will have no problem with the bill.

  6. Adam is such a classy gentleman!! Adam and Tommy Fleetwood are my favorite European players. They’re the only 2 Euros, or any non-Americans, that I root for when they are in contention. Love Adam though.
