“Turn the lights down at home” — LIV golfers brace for night golf test in Riyadh.

The 2026 LIV Golf League season begins at the Riyadh Golf Club in Saudi Arabia this week and all four rounds of the new 72-hole format will take place after dark.

Legion XIII player Tyrrell Hatton joked that he had practiced for the scenario by “turning the lights down in the studio at home.”

Perhaps Cleeks GC captain Martin Kaymer gave the most honest assessment of golf at night when he said that “the good thing about it is, you only really see what you want to see. You only see the fairways. You do not see all the other crap where you do not want to go.”

The Riyadh Golf Club hosts the opening event of the season from 4th to 7th February.
