  1. You can clearly see the lateral hip slide from the top explaining the forward shifted downward swing path. Watch his hands they are very passive from the top. He literally lets them fall for the first part of the downswing. Then the hip rotation moves all the way up the spine and out to the arm, hands and then club. Then the perfectly timed hip stall just before impact, what a power move. Perfect timing. He's a truly gifted golfer.

  2. Does he slightly bow his wrist at the top or is it neutral? I’m always confused about how consciously you should flatten your wrist

  3. I’m going to start focusing on the straight left arm and bringing it close to the body while making clubface straight, swinging under the body.

  4. that's a superb example of his swing in fine form
you could swing like that till you're in your 50s
this swing is a modern – modern fundamentals

  5. Rory has very well balanced upper / lower body proportions and I think that accounts for his spine angle, swing plane and how easy it is for him to side bend in the downswing to reconnect his trail elbow to body like Hogan did to wear hole in his golf shirts from repeating it — no Nike sponsorship back then 😂 Rory is also has a LOT of BODY MASS which helps. [edited to remove incorrect height]

Hogan had longer legs than torso. I have 3” longer than average torso / 2” shorter inseam. If I set up at address at the same spine angle as Hogan the downswing force pulls me on my nose. I need more upright with butt back over heels more to achieve balance at address but can side bend more through impact.

How body proportion affect balance / spine angle / swing plane is why “one size fit all” group / on-line instruction is not as effective as one-on-one coaching with someone who understands how to spot balance problems and how to fit them. Slices and Hooks are actual the reflexive brains balance center reacting to being pulled of balance o > _ pulling club sweet spot outside center of ball and then steering back of hand at target —- too late? Pull – Slice too early / too much? Pull-Hook Off balance no steering with hand? Straight Pull.

  6. Effortless power! He doesn't get out of balance at any time during his swing. Comfortable impact position. Both feet flat on the ground at impact. Stays with the shot.
    I think Moe would've approved!
    Go Rory!

  7. Reminds me so much of my own swing, but I always try to get just a little more extension and torso rotation.
