The Fascinating Tale Of Why Jack & Seve Played At Ladybank

Look at this. What year was that? 1983. Sebie and Jack turned up and uh you can see there crowds. Five, six, 7,000 people managed to watch. It’s absolutely amazing. This is is it was it like announced that they were coming? Was it like an organized thing? Was it one of these things where rumors just spread? Bizarrely, they were due to play the old course, but someone made a a bit of a mess with the booking, right? And they got helicoptered across the Ladybug that day. So Martin Gray, who was the professional at the time, managed to move the Junior Open, which thankfully the golf course had been booked for. And uh the Junior Open got played after these guys. And these guys actually presented the prizes to the juniors who won the Junior Open on the day. That’s unreal. is absolutely unreal.

What was meant to be a day on the Old Course in St. Andrews soon turned in to a round at Ladybank for Jack Nicklaus and Seve Ballesteros.
