Let’s look at two of the greatest players of all time. Jack Nicholas, Mickey Wright. Both were the dominant players of their respective tours in their prime. Mickey Wright over 80 wins on the LPJ tour, 13 majors. And Ben Hogan once said she had the best swing in golf. And Jack Nicholas, the best driver of the golf ball and long iron player in his day, majors, a record that’s still not broken, and over 80 wins. It’s interesting to note they both had similar influences in their teaching and they have similar styles. Both their teachers Jack Grout Harry Presler for Mickey Wright were influenced by the legendary Henry Bard who was influenced by the legendary Alex Morrison. And Alex Morrison was one use high-speed cameras to analyze the golf swing. And if we look at both their styles, Jack Nicholas, big wide takeaway, takes it to the top, huge, big full turn, picks up his left heel, massive turn, high hands, and Mickey right the same. Big wide takeaway, huge turn, pick up the left heel. Both for advocates of that big wide turn. Both hit the ball extremely far and extremely high and were great drivers of the golf ball and long arm players. If we look at Mickey right here, tremendous move into her lead side, unbelievable change of direction, starts down into her left side and boom. No wonder Ben Hogan said she had the best swing in golf. And Jack Nicholas was a proponent of moved hard into the lead side. And he also had some, you know, some great thoughts for the down swing where he felt that you couldn’t release the club early enough if you moved into your left foot. He was a big proponent of releasing that golf club and hitting it hard. And move into that lead side and look at that impact position. No wonder he was one of the greatest drivers of the golf ball ever. Both big turns, huge swings, great hitting action. That’s something the average golfer can learn from both of them. We know we can’t really copy their particular styles and swings, but having a good wide takeaway and making the fullest back swing possible and then moving hard into your lead side will do you well for consistency in terms of striking the golf ball. And I think we’re doing ourselves a disfavor if we don’t look back at these legends of yestery year in terms of how they played and moved the golf

Old School Power — Jack & Mickey Style!

Jack Nicklaus & Mickey Wright — two legends, over 160 wins and 30 majors between them! ⛳️
Both had beautifully simple swings — big turn, left heel up, full release… hit it hard, high and far!
Their secret?
✅ Wide takeaway
✅ Big full wind-up
✅ Pressure shift into the lead side
✅ Free-flowing release through the ball

Over 50 golfers, sure we can’t copy them but don’t cheat yourself short, with a short backswing! You don’t have to force it but keep the swing wide, hands away from you as you take it back to the top, turn to the best of your ability, finish your backswing!

If you want more distance, carry, and consistency, learn from the legends:
👉 Turn bigger
👉 Let that left heel lift on the backswing
👉 Push into your lead foot to start the downswing
👉 Release the club and free wheel a little more!

Old school still works — golf fundamentals never go out of style! 💪
