ロリー・マキロイのスイング分析 2025 | ゴルフスイングの内訳とヒント
We are back with some golf swing analysis and we have Rory Maroy hitting some irons and I just wanted to look at this golf swing with through the lens of what makes him such a good ball striker and obviously what makes him one of the best players in the world. I’ve covered him before in why he is such a good driver of the ball, but I just wanted to go through this and let’s just talk more about his iron play. Um because it takes more than just being a good driver of the ball to be Rory Mroy. So if we just start off at address setup here is is really good. These are all things that people should be copying. So balance point from the back of his arm sort of maybe a little bit out towards his toes but right above his knees um backside not too far behind his heels which is something we see a lot of and overall you know very square and he’s obviously a draw player but Maro makes swings where he push draws it as opposed to like just pull draws it or hits a straight draw. So, his square stance um might make you think he hits the ball pretty straight, but this ball is definitely going to move with some right to left. From the front, we see a decent amount of spine tilt about four degrees with a sort of mid to long iron. Um his his weight actually in this position is looks like it’s probably 50/50 or even more slightly to the right foot, which is part of his trigger for his swing. So, see the one of his first moves is by sort of a slight little shift in his weight to his right foot before he then starts moving left. But we’ll get more into that later. So, head behind head’s got some tilt. His hands are forwards of the club head. So, I do like a good amount of shaft when hitting driver. Put good checkpoint would be shaft and grip pointing at your lead hip. And just as a reference for setup, we want that shaft pointing at the bell buckle um or even slightly higher. Most people set up with the hands too low, which gets them in a two over bent uh sort of posture position, which just means ball striking can be quite diff. As we start the swing, I’m just going to draw some reference lines here. So, we’re just going to look at his hip position, his head position. I’m also going to mark his lead shoulder. I think that’s quite an important one. Uh just in terms of like lateral movement and other things I want to talk about are Maroyy’s sort of shaft plane uh as a reference line as what he does around moving the club around his body. So we start with the down the line. We’re gonna see in typical fashion the club face looks down at the ball in the takeaway which is like just A1 positioning for me. A lot of people open the face too early. Um, which can lead to many compensations later in the swing and club then travels pretty much up in line with his hands up that red plane line and then swings in a position that is actually slightly steeper. And some a bit of a position that I’ve been noticing more and more in good players is this sort of straight line position. I call this sort of like a steep and deep line where the club shaft, the butt end of the club line up at some point in the back swing over that right heel. This is a position that actually a lot of good players work into where the the head, the butt of the club, and the ankle all line up. It just means he’s like he’s getting his hands far enough behind his body to create some speed. uh and the clubs on line at the top. As we move, if we just look at the face on, we’re going to see there’s his little bump to the right. So, hips actually move away from it, that line, but he makes a back swing where his head stays very centered and just turns his hips, turns his shoulders really well. And by the time he actually gets the top, you can see before the club stops moving back, his hips are moving forwards. And this is an absolute like key marker for for me in that a lot of golfers think about the the swing as back swing and down swing where it isn’t two things. It’s it’s one long movement where there should be a blend of back swing and down swing where you your weight’s transferring one way whilst the club’s moving the other way. Um, this is called double direction. And this sort of creates the torque in your body which then allows you to hit the ball really far. And you you sort of Marro is not the only person that does this. Pretty much every tour player does this that the weight shifting before the club head gets to the top and that’s when the magic starts to happen. So from this steep and deep line which uh I really like Maroy then you can sort of see he lowers his head dips down club head works behind the steep and deep line which is essential um for power and and and draws. club head hits that playing line super early, which is another massive thing I I like and I see in in better players. Um, the earlier the club head gets to that sort of original playing line, the straighter and the harder I think you could, you know, hit it really. Um, and so that’s all good. Hips are open, shoulders are closed. That’s really good as well. Left shoulders below the right shoulder, so he’s still down on the ball, which is nice. And then we see this enormous weight shift or not necessarily weight shift but hip shift. So head has really stayed where it was originally. But just look at where his left hip and left shoulder are relative to where he started. You know, his hips may be seven or eight inches forwards. His his left shoulder is four or five inches forwards. And that pretty much guarantees a downward hit, a ball first contact. And and this is the sort of position as someone who’s looking to improve their ball striking. This is what you should be aiming for. So hips are forward, shoulders forwards, head stay back, and that hands are forwards. All these things just mean good ball striking, ball first contact from down the line. Club’s slightly underneath his original sort of shaft plane line, but we know Maroy draws it. So, club’s definitely on the inside there, but does a great job. Squares it up. Hips are open, shoulders are square, forearms are square, and this is just like obviously best player in the world, a textbook impact position. Um, from there, Maroy has an enormous like release of the club. So right hand turns over left hand very early. Club stays out to the right of his hands because he’s hitting a draw. If he was a fader, the club head might be a little bit more bare, but obviously he doesn’t do that. So fair enough. And it’s just keep everything then moves forward. So once he struck the ball, he then lets his head release. Um hips finish miles forward. body finishes miles forward. Club head appears out parallel to the original shaft plane line which is like quite cool. Checkpoint then releases everything through. So some some good stuff here to take away. Um I mean the setup is a key one. We can all copy Maroyy’s good setup. I think we can all really work on this back swing just because I believe the back swing is, you know, 80% of hitting the ball. If we do the back swing right, everything else sort of seems to work from my experience. So, club face looking at the ball through the takeaway, hands up to that steep and deep line at the top whilst the hips starting to move towards the target early. If you do those things, then you’re well on your way to a good strike. Then it’s just a case of shifting forwards, getting the club onto that plane line as early as you possibly can, and then just let it go. Um, but obviously this is a fantastic swing. We’ll never stop looking at Maroy swing because it really is a feat of excellence. Um, if you’ve enjoyed this video, then please, please, please like and subscribe. Gets this video out to more people. Helps me a little bit as well. Um, but yeah, if you’ve got any ideas of a swing you want to see uh my opinion of, then uh let me know in the comments. So, I do like a good amount of shaft lean when hitting driver. Put good checkpoint would be shaft and grip pointing at your lead hip. And just as a reference for setup, we want that shaft pointing at the belt buckle um or even slightly higher. Most people set up with the hands too low, which gets them in a two over bent uh sort of posture position, which just means ball striking can be quite difficult. So, as we start the swing, I’m just going to draw some reference lines here. So, we’re just going to look at his hip position, his head position. I’m also going to mark his lead shoulder.
