Former professional golfers are taking over Mid Ams
It’s the US Midam. It’s not the failed tour pro open. A segment we call the knockaround presented by knockaround sunglasses. 20 years of knockaround sunglasses. Let’s give a little congrat to the knockaround people. I don’t say this lightly. I’m going to hit the honesty button. I don’t remember which one’s the honesty but I’m going to hit them both. This woke nonsense too. I think Bobby Jones is rolling over in his grave last week. Six of the eight quarterfinalists at the US Midam were former professional golfers. So it was won by Brandon Holtz. He’s 38 years old. Anytime a mid qualifies, you know, wins the mid, the media, the casual media all say is like, “Oh, this this real estate agent is playing in the mass.” What they forgot to mention is that he was a professional golfer for 6 years. Shouldn’t it be guys who never turned professional? I I I think about turning pro, and this is a take that I’ve been sitting on for a long time. I think turning pro should mean something in golf. If you turn pro, you turn pro. You cross the line, you cross the line, you cross the line. You know, it’s like it’s like when they made Jimmy Carter sell his peanut farm when he became president. That’s exactly it. Speaking of the midame, Paul Mitell lost a match in extra holes because his caddy took a cart ride. And this is actually not the first time I’ve seen this. Look at that st. I feel like a couple of cornfairy guys got DQed from an event for this exact thing. So, first time is sort of shame on you is my take on this. Second time is shame on me. I do understand wanting a cart though in mid-sepptember in Scottsdale. It was probably super super hot. We got to give a shout out to Cowin Rafferty. He became the first player on record to win the four provincial championships, aka the four directional championships. So he had already won the south of Ireland, the west of Ireland, and the east of Ireland in his life. And he completed the career grand slam by winning the north of Ireland at Port Stewart. The Compass Slam. The Compass Slam is complete. The Masters is going to be streaming on Amazon early round coverage. Oh, to be a fly in the wall in that conversation. That is a clash of generations. But Augusta deserves credit. They’re always modernizing. They they stick with the times. So I think it’s 2 hours of extra coverage. Uh early in the week will be on Amazon Prime. But if you’re not on the Masters app all day on Thursday morning, you might not know Ball. Michael Kim. So Michael Kim won the French Open. He’s the first American in over 50 years to do it. He had a clutch par save at the last. Great year for Michael Kim. He was super hot in the beginning of the year. Saw Brooks Kepka finished a few shots back. He’s playing every week. Um, and for purses that are minuscule compared to what he plays for at Live Golf. So, it sure seems like it’s not about the money for Brooks right now. He wants to get back to being one of the best players in the world. Hey, Brooksie. I know a tour where you can play more than 14 times a year and you you don’t have to travel all around the world. And I know a tour. I’m wearing the Brook Lines cuz 1999 Ryder Cup at Brooklyn. Justin Leonard. So, this is a little bit of Ryder Cup theme. The best sunglasses in the game. Stop spending stupid money on sunglasses. You’re going to lose them. You’re going to knock them around. It’s in the name. You can knock these around. And we have a promo code for you. So, if you go to knockaround.com/golf, you can look at all the golf sunglasses and if you put the promo code Dan on 20, you get 20% off your first order, which I think brings these incredible sunglasses under $30. It’s a no-brainer.
Dan bounces around the world of golf, including a Compass Grand Slam, Brooks Koepka’s busy schedule, a new way to watch the Masters and Michael Kim making history at the French Open, presented by @Knockaround.
The intersection of golf and culture.
Behind every drained putt or hosel rocket into the stands is a human being with complex emotions—among them, an insatiable appetite for golf. That’s what we’re after. Golf’s humanity is what makes it so special to us. There have never been more reasons to love this game, and we’re endeavoring to explore them all.

we had a couple guys in our provincial mid-am who played pro on mini tours and in europe for a few years and i think they caught onto the rest of us judging them
no former tour pros in am events is L take
If you're going to enact a ban of former professionals from regaining their amateur status, you have to make sure to not catch former club pros in that net. Club pros and tour pros are not the same thing at all.
You know a tour….?
A tour that bans him from playing, you mean?
Wtf
What does any of this have to do with "woke nonsense" like the guy in red said?…. wtf is he even talking about 🤦
We had a Former pro in our men's club. Asian pga for 7 years. He shot 24 under in our club championship and won by 20 rofl
