Justin Rose: “US Ryder Cup Team Are Trying Too Hard” 😳 Europe’s Secret Advantage Revealed
Justin Rose believes the United States Rder Cup team may be guilty of trying too hard to forge unity, something he feels gives Europe a natural edge. Speaking at a Rose Lady Series event earlier this month, the former US Open champion doubled down on his view that America’s approach to team spirit is misguided. While Europe has lifted the RDER Cup in five of the last seven editions, the US and her Beth Paige as favorites thanks to their traditionally strong home advantage. I think the US team have definitely bonded a lot more in recent years and they do have pockets of good friendships. Rose said in a video shared by Sky Sports, but I think the Americans have gotten a little bit they think being a great team is about being best mates. I really don’t think that’s what being a great team is. Being a great team is about having a theme, an identity that’s been passed down by players before you and buying into that vision. You don’t have to be having the greatest time in the world to do that. Although inevitably, we do have a great time doing that. I think America have tried too hard to become a team. Whereas Europe’s chemistry feels more natural, more organic. It comes from deeper roots. This is not the first time Rose has cast out on the bonds inside the US locker room. After Europe’s emphatic victory in Rome two years ago, he made a pointed remark during the winners press conference. A good pairing on the European team doesn’t mean playing with your best mate. It’s about representing something bigger than yourself. That is what being a European Rder Cup player is all about. Rose, preparing for his seventh Ryder Cup appearance, is no stranger to hostile away crowds. But even he admits next week’s showdown at Beth Paige may reach new levels of intensity. So much so that European captain Luke Donald has armed his players with VR headsets to simulate the abuse they can expect from the notoriously unforgiving New York galleries. New Yorkers are crazy and they become sort of caricatures of themselves. Rose said, “I think they feel they have to live up to that reputation. So, I fully expect absolute chaos out there, but I’m not sure that’s necessarily a bad thing. At some point, it just becomes noise. The more there is, maybe it fades into chaos and background noise, which could actually be easier to deal with than one or two very targeted distractions.
Justin Rose: “US Ryder Cup Team Are Trying Too Hard” 😳 Europe’s Secret Advantage Revealed
The Ryder Cup is almost here, and Justin Rose has fired a bold shot at Team USA 🇺🇸🔥.
Speaking ahead of his seventh Ryder Cup appearance, Rose claims the Americans are “trying too hard” to create friendships and force team spirit — while Europe’s bond is natural, organic, and rooted in decades of tradition. 🌍🏆
Rose, who played a key role in Europe’s win in Rome two years ago, insists that being a great Ryder Cup team isn’t about being “best mates,” but about representing something bigger than yourself. His comments echo the deep identity and culture that has fueled Europe’s dominance, winning five of the last seven matches.
But at Bethpage, Team USA are still favourites thanks to the ferocious New York crowd 👀. Captain Luke Donald has even equipped his team with VR headsets to simulate the abuse they’ll face from the galleries. Rose, however, believes the chaos could actually work in Europe’s favor: “At some point it just becomes noise.”
👉 Do you agree with Rose — is Europe’s bond the real difference-maker in Ryder Cups? Or can Team USA finally turn the tide?
