Jack Nicklaus Reveals What He Did Better Than Tiger Woods 〽️🐻
Is there something you believed you definitely did better than him and something you feel he did better than you when you compare the games, not the records? Well, oh, I don’t know. I think that Tiger I think I was a better driver of the golf ball than Tiger. I think they were both good iron players. I think he had a better short game and we were both good putters. You know, it was really kind of funny. He was I said I I didn’t think about that till right now but I s I sit next to Tiger every year at the Masters dinner and we’re sitting there in the back said and we buried he said well the senior tour you’re not far away and so forth so then about a minute later he says how many senior tours tournaments did you win how many majors and then the question came out for one reason he wanted to know what his goal was I loved that I got a big kick out of

Jack was better at Winning Majors ⛳ 🏆
I was fortunate to have watched both Jack and Tiger win majors and compete. I have respect for both their games and drive. If and when Tiger goes to the Senior tour I still see him have some wins at some point. Currently tied at 82 PGA tour wins with Sam Snead. At some point that tie will be broken.
I always imagine beating both of them, which makes me feel so good. And both of them is so sad I beat them.
Tiger wouldn’t play on senior tour. Never his plan and I’m sure it never will be. Jacks a little off on that assumption 😂
Jack only played the Sr tour part time and still won many majors on the sr tour
I was blessed to be able to watch Tiger’s career over the years, what he did for the game of golf cannot be overstated. But man, I wish I could have watched Jack in his prime. Nothing but respect for two legends of the game.
Jack was better of staying out of TROUBLE away from the golf course!
Jack is a better golfer that Wood. End of Conversation. Jack #1 – Tiger is top 5 though
I sit next to Tiger every year.
Not Tiger sits next to me. Hmm.
And I’m a Jack fan….
Always so candid, humble and classy. O-H-I-O !!
Let’s finally put this debate to rest. Jack and Tiger were both phenomenal golfers, but the greatest golfer of all time is me when I’m playing by myself and no one is watching.
Jack lives in Tiger's head rent free. If Jack isn't the GOAT…and Tiger is, as many argue, then why has Jack always been, and remains, the player Tiger consistently aspires to surpass?
Jack's been adored so long he's bored by the questions and yawning……dude has live a charmed life. Always seemed polite, but you can tell he always thought he was a notch above everyone else.
I have two GOATS on my hypothetical farm and their names are Jack and Tiger! Deal with it! 😂
Totally agree. Jack was more accurate with the driver. Tiger's short shots were better. Both the best putters. Jack is usually spot-on.
…..great golfer, great career……but he has always been kind of a tool….
He’s correct
If Jack, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Gary Player, Lee Trevino and some other greats had the same golf ball and club technology of today with the same course setups, it’s really not even close at all that those old great players were so much better than today’s great players it’s not even funny, yes Tiger and Scottie are awesome but if they had to play with that old tech and shitty greens those guys putted on gorget it😂😂😂
Bobby jones won 13 majors and retired at twenty eight years old all while earning degrees at school passing the bar and practicing law during his competition years. It was decades before Jack surpassed his major total. Jacks record of 18 majors and 19 second place finishes in majors is mind blowing. His top five finishes in majors are over 20 ahead of the second place golfer. That’s incredible!
18>15… Jack is the GOAT!
Yea that is true though; Jack was a better driver of the ball off the tee.
Jack also had class and integrity. Also a humble 2nd place finisher with grace.
I admittedly know very little about golf, but I remember being told by someone with a statistical mindset during Tiger's peak that other Tier I golfers underperformed by a statistically significant degree when paired with Tiger during tournament play and that this effect increased in later rounds. So if Tiger was playing well early and was at the top of the leader board, then the other players at the very top of the leader board would get the yips. This further meant that if Tiger was leading he was more likely to be caught from behind in the last round that outplayed by the close competition.
Nicklaus did not seem to have that effect on his competitors. As a distant observer, Jack Nicklaus seemed to me to be analogous to individuals like Tom Landy or Chris Evert: incredibly consistent and always in the competition at the highest level but ultimately not the most outstanding at converting all of the opportunities gotten as a result of that skill and consistency. Landy had a 20 year run in which he made the playoff 18 times, made the Conference Championship game 12 times, won 5 to make the Super Bowl and won 2 Super Bowls. Evert at one point made the semifinals at 40 consecutive Grand Slam Tennis Tournaments she entered. Nicklaus won 18 Majors, came in 2nd 19 time, 3rd 9 times and 4th 8 times.
The elite competition did not seem to implode psychologically when placed in close direct competition against Nicklaus as I have been told that elite golfers did when facing Tiger in his prime.
Remember, Jack occasionally sprayed his driver in pressure situations. So he wasn't that much better than Tiger. And Jack had an underrated short game. Unlike Tiger, Jack went by the book in short game situations, and rarely made mistakes in doing so.
There is no objective way to classify the top sportsmen/women as the best of all time or, if one was better than the other one 50 years apart.
With very few exceptions, all sports have changed dramatically in the last 50-75 years, either through technical advances, conditions of play, prize money, rule changes, even physical attributes.
I think it is only fair and fitting that we can look at each generation and pick out who was the outstanding player of their time and give them the praise and honour they deserve.
One thing is for certain……if they were both of the same generation, it would have been an almost spiritual like experience to have watched them playing against each other !!!!
Jack had a better home life, wife and kids. He never whored around and disgraced the game of golf. He never took PEDs and kept himself clean. Far better man Jack is than ever was Tiger.
