In this episode of The Golf Podcast, we’re discussing the pivotal moment LIV Golf faces as three legendary names — Lee Westwood, Henrik Stenson, and Ian Poulter — sit on the brink of relegation, potentially marking a massive shake-up for the Majesticks team and the league as a whole. We break down LIV’s performance-based “lock,” “open,” and “drop” zones, the recent tightening of relegation rules, and how these changes are designed to strengthen LIV’s case for Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points by eliminating past loopholes, such as captains or “business case” exemptions. We revisit past cases like Bubba Watson and Martin Kaymer, examine why OWGR remains crucial for LIV’s long-term viability, and explore whether aging stars will grind through the promotions event or simply retire with their sizable earnings. The discussion also touches on the business implications for team sponsorships, the challenges of sustaining the league with legacy names, and the pathways — or lack thereof — for players to return once relegated, especially with PGA Tour bans still in place. With big money, player legacies, and LIV’s competitive credibility all on the line, we consider what’s at stake not only for these players’ careers but also for the league’s future direction and its ability to attract new talent.

  1. 1:17 check that swing out! He shouldn't feel bad because everyone falls victim to the misconception of the golf swing.
The Procedural Principal Technique is a practice in which several variables must be observed. They involve changing the fundamentals all because of one word that has been misconstrued, leading to the MISCONCEPTION. This application reduces the energy needed when striking the ball and makes aligning the ball intuitive. This always requires a 'move' which, when 'working the ball', will never result in the double-cross, ensuring an intended line, enabling a confident result in ball placement necessary for consistency. Once the PPT is revealed, it is easily understood, and then learning it at the practice range and taking it to the course is an exercise in confidence. It becomes knowledgeable information that is always applicable. Once known, practice becomes a thing of the past. I am hesitant to reveal this information because of the enormous amount of time and energy spent, only to repeatedly, fall short due to the MISCONCEPTION, and then realizing it, all because of one word ¿`_

https://youtu.be/dR7Zyz5E8Ao?si=UoB7mgLAIbZhrzka This is an example of the MISCONCEPTION of the golf swing due to the misunderstanding of one word. Learn this swing, you will fall victim to the double-cross, and you will be left scratching your head each time it rears its ugly head, and it will. The PPT is the secret to understanding how to avoid the MISCONCEPTION—which requires a methodology ¿`_

In the context of overcoming a MISCONCEPTION, a methodology would involve a structured and systematic approach to:

    • Identifying the MISCONCEPTION.

    • Understand its origins and underlying reasons.

    • Develop strategies or interventions to address it.

    • Implement these strategies.

    • Evaluate their effectiveness in correcting the MISCONCEPTION ¿`_

  2. "open to relegation" means someone could be asked to leave.if they're in the "drop zone". Yes, the guys you talked about ate co-captains, but they're also team co-owners so I doubt they're going to be leaving the league. LOL

  3. Hilarious to me that you guys can't see through the BS. It's a closed system on purpose. They want to own the players, AND be responsible for their revenue streams, they dont want an open free for all any joe shmo coming into their league. I promise you there are THOUSANDS of golfers that could compete in the LIV league, but that will never happen, becasue once you open it up for genuine competition, the entire revenue model is blown.

  4. What are you even talking about? LIV golfers, Westwood and Bland have both competed in the senior tour. Of course, they have also both played in majors, made the cut and beat over have of the best PGAT players in the past year. These guys have already discussed this. They can just retire and move into the ownership role for their team. All of these guys have talked about it. I would bet you would see Poulter move into the Youtube world doing things specifically focused on golf and majestics golf. You have already started to see Phil started his youtube channel and is getting a large number of subscribers. Poulter just started the same.

  5. Good talk. My takes: I agree it was probably Norman’s only real big mistake to WD the application to the owgr. And it’s probably what got him demoted from day to day operations. Just my guess. Because otherwise I thought the Shark did an amazing job. But now Liv should not jut acquiesce to the increasingly incredible owgr. I mean what’s the best that can happen? The owgr throw Liv some futile points as they do for all golf tours except one.
    Is that worth it?
It is worth pointing out names like ballester, mckibbin, surratt: all super talents coming fresh out of college who chose a pro tour with no owgr points. They figure they will have their chances through qualifying and some other side doors that keep popping up.
So I’m not saying don’t try to get owgr points… just don’t give up too much of the evolution to finally get some.
And please let’s not let people pretend like they wanted to give Liv points but this and that excuse. We know what happened.

  6. Having OWGR will make LIV more attractive to get new talent, the Xanders, Cantalys, Fitzpatricks would seriously consider LIV if they don't fall off the top 50 of OWGR

  7. If soccer players can play a few seasons in one league, finish their contract, then join another with no drama, why can’t golfers do the same? The PGA Tour already lets its members play the majors — none of which are PGA-run — and even allows cross-play inside its own U.S. ecosystem: Korn Ferry Tour players like Neal Shipley have teed it up in PGA Tour events in the same year. Players also move between DP World Tour & PGA Tour, KFT & PGA Tour, Champions Tour & PGA Tour, and now TGL & PGA Tour with no issue — simply because it’s all PGA-controlled. If that’s fine internally, blocking similar freedom with other tours isn’t about protecting the sport, it’s just anti-competitive.

  8. What about
    PAT PEREZ???
    He’s a commentator like you guys 🙆🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️💁🏻‍♂️

Will he be able to come back?? Is he gone too??

I’m curious does it affect him or does he have a chance to come back…..

  9. Like any league, if they were not performing, they would not be earning money, due to missed cuts. Its how the structure is made, regardless of where you are in sports. Fact, as you age, your ability to compete is diminished, just a physical fact. Fitness can reduce the trend, but facts speak for themselves, they are simply not competitive enough. Lee and the postman, plus Henrick, need to get ready for the Legends/Seniors Tour, which they would likely earn good money on. No point in denying the march of time. Same for everyone, be they professional or amateur, we age, we lose speed. Speed in golf = distance gained=hitting shorter irons closer to pins=more birdies=better results=more money earned. No point in ignoring the truth.

  10. Huge LV fan here: safe for Henrik those two other fellas should never have been on the LIV and have been the foundation of the argument that the live tour is just Golf theater. They have never been competitive and had not been for years. They’ve done an even worse job of marketing their team and done nothing to rejuvenate it. Best thing that could ever happen is all three of them are pushed out and some young competitive English players are replacing them. And then Liv needs to come up with a much bigger global strategy, which includes promotions and relations. It surprises me how they have not thought this through. The live tour is awesome, but it doesn’t go anywhere and it needs to and by that I mean, how does a player make the team realistically. Once a year one spot for one player is ridiculous. Come on LID get better. The global world of golf is counting on you and right now you’re playing small ball.
