1. Play with a Joe Powell driver and three wood, they are fantastic clubs. Great to see Rory get one of these, beautiful touch putting the Poppy on the sole. Probably still hit it 320.

4. I used to use persimmon clubs until they came out with harder balls and that pretty much did in my persimmon head’s. Hopefully Rory was using a Balata or something softer otherwise that club won’t last!

11. I have a darker persimmon driver I found at a yard sale 25 years ago. Cleaned it up a bit. They are absolutely beautiful clubs. I'm afraid to use it at all as it's in very fine condition but I think it's time to give it a go once or twice. I'm ancient anyway and my swing speed has no chance of hurting the persimmon driver 😂

22. When they gave it to him I said to myself, "no way he actually hits a ball with that thing." Blinked once and my guy was at address and proceeded to pipe one! Love it!

23. Persimmon woods are things of beauty. I had a persimmon 4-wood that I restored myself with a clear finish and the natural colour of the wood and the grain showing. I learned how to do it from an old golf pro, and restoring these old woods became a hobby I really loved.

24. Just watched highlights of Rory’s 3rd round of the 2025 Scottish Open. Absolutely brilliant 🙂
