Fred Couples is surely the biggest under achieving golfer in the history of the game.
It’s absolutely insane that he has won ONLY ONE Major Championship (The Masters in 1992).
Possessing a swing of beauty and rhythm, as well as being blessed with a great temperament and unique skills, one would immediately have expected him to win at the very least 5 or more Majors. He’s come close a few times but it’s still incredible to think that he hasn’t been able to add to that Masters win.
He was fortunate to win at Augusta as during the final round of the 1992 Masters, his tee shot was short of the treacherous 12th par 3 green, rolled down the steep bank, but somehow, did NOT continue down into Rae’s Creek, which I think is the only time that has happened before!
Why has Freddie couples never been a Ryder cup captain??
