  1. Well, we all have our favorites and mine is Hogan. He came from nothing and made himself great. As he said himself, "I dug it out of the dirt". No one handed him anything.

  2. "Ben Hogan, easily" was the response of Nicklaus when asked who was the better golfer, Woods or Hogan.
Hogan was the Donald Bradman of golf. No other golfer except perhaps Moe Norman could hit greens in regulation like Hogan.
Most top professionals hit 13-14 greens in regulation in a round. Hogan regularly hit 17 -18. He stands alone in that statistic.
No-one knows how many majors he would have won without the car accident, which forced him to husband his resources, and also impaired his putting.
As Claude Harmon said: " If Hogan could have putted, he would have made the record books look silly".

  3. There is no greatest golfer of all time. There are players who were the best in their era. Different courses, different equipment, different golf balls and different competition are variables that make comparisons impossible. But Woods, Nicklaus, Jones and Hogan are up there. Woods played against the toughest competition. As Byron Nelson said my 12 victories in one year did not mean that much. I only had to beat a few players.

  4. Nice but No Body comes close to Mr. Ben Hogan for talent, ball striking and come back after injures.. He is My Hero…And on top of my list, Then Bobby Jones, and Mr. Nicklaus….

  5. Tiger best that ever played. Arnold Palmer the greatest Man. Ben Hogan the best ball striker. Byron Nelson best Gentleman. Sam Sneed longest career

  6. I would go with Tiger. No one in the history of golf could have got anywhere near him when he won the US Open by 15 shits! Tiger is the GOAT!

  7. Ever try hitting a hickory shafted golf club and a gotta perch a ball? Ever putt on greens where the grass was as long as the fairways? That’s what Jones did and he shot regularly in the sixties in major tournaments. Oh, and he did it in his spare time while getting degrees in English and law.
