Meijer LPGA Classic – Round 1 Recap
round one of the Meer LPGA classic is underway a weather delay early pushed everything back 40 minutes lots of birdies early on not too many in the afternoon great crowd on hand as always at blyfield Country Club feature group of the day all pass Champs Nelly Corda Leona Maguire and Brooke Henderson Corda the number one golfer in the world struggled a double bogy on one bogy’s on two and three on eight an opportunity for an eagle comes up just short a tap in for one of her three birdie of the day Nelly’s four over last year’s champ Leona Maguire had an up and down day three birdies and an eagle but three Bogies and a double she’s even Brook Henderson with the round of the afternoon saves par early on on three then on eight going to tap in for Eagle one of her two Eagles of the afternoon she’s tied for second with eight other as at five under the story of the day birdies early Allison Lee with seven birdies and an eagle starting on the back nine then finishing up on the nth just shy of another birdie she’s alone in first at 7 under taking a look at the leaderboard everyone Trails Allison Lee Jennifer cupo with a nice first round Birdie the last two holes to get to 500 Lauren hartage with seven birdies on the day and carlot singata with a birdie on 18 she also shoots a 67 overall really happy and pleasantly surprised about my round today hopefully I can keep this momentum going I feel like I’ve kind of cooled off over the last month or two like like I said I just haven’t felt quite right about my swing and I felt like I found something at the end of last week and found a little something today it was extremely windy uh so it was really tough to judge I feel like the first few holes I didn’t hit a fairway and was really getting up and down made a lot of clutch par saves um which really kept the momentum in the round going and then making that Eagle at 8 um you know got me under par got me feeling a lot better um and was able to make some birdies on the back so I mean it was playing really tough today so I feel likeus 5 in the afternoon with was a bit of a bonus um so I’m happy and hopefully just carry it forward
