The Great Myth of Visualization #sportsperformance #golf #podcast
Jack Nicholas would visualize the ball coming back from the hole going all the way to his Club that’s right tiger in the in the early books and his early biographies would describe something similar of oh I’m visualizing the shot in his later books the one that in the 1997’s Master’s book he talks about actually I could never see it I would always use the feel of the swing and feeling the weight of the club to rehearse the shot rather than and like what that would feel like rather than what it look like yeah and to me the greatest athlete or the greatest golfer of all time is actually not doing what everyone is describing in terms of pure visualization and I think that that is so crucial why is why is that roughly 20% of society can’t form mental pictures in their mind
Everyone thinks that visualization is with your Eyes. Actually, many people visualize in different ways. For example, Jack Nicklaus visualized primarily with his visual system while Tiger Woods used the feel of his body to simulate the shot.
