one two three thank [Music] you nice to meet you nice to meet you hi I’m Tru honored to seeing you thank you thank you very much thank you thank you for having me on the show uh many moments where I thought I I got golf uh where you feel uh a good swing TH or a good feel with the MH um and you go with that for as long as you can and then wait for the for the next feeling of that you’ve got golf yes that’s happened many times I think I think what we love and also hate or it’s frustrating about golf is that um you never really have it all the time I think golf is about um learning to play when you don’t have it um as much as it is learning to to find what it is uh there’s moments of this is it for golf and I think that’s what you get addicted to is finding out what this is like what is going to make you play good for however long that swing feeli works for um I think that’s what you get addicted to is finding that so that it can help you play really well same parameter yes yeah same for everyone that play yes I will okay m how do you feel about this my setup looks pretty good sometimes I get a little bit too much weight on my left so I’m happy with that I could feel at the at the top of my swing I feel like I could have been a little bit more loaded I wasn’t really into my right side as much as I would like and I think the the only thing is is that I’m I’m slowing down because I didn’t get as loaded into into my right hip so naturally um you know wait for everything to catch up because I’m I’m I’m already a bit ahead of the ball why did you put B left side why did you ball yeah left S no well I think with driver you know these days um with technology you want to hit hit up on the ball um that’s you know that’s what everyone’s working on I have I’ve had to change that because um you know with older technology you didn’t want the ball to spin so much into the wind but now the ball doesn’t spin so you want to head up on the ball um I I play around with it I [Music] think um I think I always like to feel like I leave my hands behind mhm um so at the top of my swing my body starts and I leave my hands behind if you leave your hands behind it’s not an early release that’s coming in so try and keep arms and hands very soft um so not a lot of tension in your arms and then it’s just really the coil and feeling like you’re leaving your hands behind thank you thank you so I’ve been working my takeaway has been a little bit outside the line lately and I actually like that I’ve improved my takeaway which is good and then it’s fairly well on plane but I think cuz I didn’t quite here yeah mhm yeah it’s the takeaway looks quite good there a big Improvement on what I’ve been working on and actually I look a bit better loaded from behind than I did from sometimes I use it as a swing thought like that’s the path I want to take that’s how it originated back nearly 30 years ago M um with my coach um but as it’s as much a swing thought now as it is a swing trigger like it’s part of my routine and it’s a part of my swing trigger so once I do the waggle and I come back to the ball that that’s sort of my my call to to take the club away ight in your finish yes that is that cuz you want to hit a draw or no that’s just um back to my original swing back when I was young um uh and it’s sort of something that I I do try to work on rounding off my follow through um but it’s a really really old pattern that um more balls were hit with the high follow through than have ever been hit rounding off my swing so it’s just something something that’s always going to be there think a lot of that has to do with just practice and timing yeah and it’s sort of your own body body rhythms too I think if you’re someone that is you know very fast in life and and everything you do is kind of like that and your swing’s kind of fast it’s finding that you know the the separation might be just a really Split Second whereas if you’re a little more deliberate person you know that timing’s a little bit longer through there so um you only have to be you know half a degree off on that and or a degree off and you know that changes the outcome of of your swing um so some days you you can have all the right patterns like everything on slow motion looks correct but your timing is just a fraction off and that could be just because of how your body feels for the day and so you might not be matching up quite quite as well and I think it’s understanding um and asking questions when you’re getting lessons but understanding the misses that can be created from that so if you start doing it too much and your body’s well out in front of your hands you’re probably going to start hitting slices or blocks to the right so once that happens you go oh maybe I need to you know not have as much not um leave my hands behind as much um so it’s it’s remembering or understanding the misses and what could be causing it yes yeah even if it if even if your body’s getting out in front or it’s fast too fast and you’re H starting to hit it right it’s not to add tension to your hands it’s just maybe let’s think about everything coming down together a bit more thank [Laughter] you so’s D okay so go away cuz you know there’s coaches with speed training where they’re also the using the ground more like they’re like pushing into the ground [Music] oh could you tell me something yes thank you well I think um you have a really good base good setup um you know you’re quite tall and strong so it’s a it’s a very um good solid base and then POS positionally it looks really good um you know I think um your release could be later like there could be a little more lag in your swing which would create a bit of Club head speed so it’s finding a coach that can do a little bit of speed training with you um to teach you exactly how to create that without really changing too much of what you’re already doing which is good so she has space she feels like she says too much space here through let me see in the follow through do you feel that m maybe your hands go out a little through the line yeah and not around but I I also do that the is it okay I think so I mean I I think um it’s probably something that you have to watch that it doesn’t get um too bad um you know so like for me that you know I go through the line and then have that high follow through so when I see that happening too much I start trying to feel more rounded off and more connected cuz it’s good to have extension through as long as it’s not going through the line and it’s still rounding off yeah I think so yeah I think you know if if it’s important for you to increase your distance I think finding someone that can help you increase that Speed without changing too much swing would be so now she can have confidence swing you don’t want to have you don’t want to trade hitting it straight for hitting it too far off line you know for hitting it further but too far off line where where distance might be a weakness you know like you might not hit it as far as some you know create a strength somewhere else that you’re better at than everyone else like from 100 100 m in you know you’re you’re better than most or your puttting is you know your strength so um it’s Al also when you’re trying to gain distance not to forget the things that you’re really good at and keep them really good as well I think if I I played with someone who hit it much further than me I try not to watch them hit off especially if they were teeing off before me I um and I’ve made that a habit throughout my career really not to watch anyone’s te shot um whether it’s because they hit it further than me or I don’t want to see someone hit it Miss the Fairway so um but yeah I try especially not to to try and keep up with someone I know that I’m never going to hit it as [Music] [Laughter] far why did you choose this um I’ve been using uh n shaft for 20 years now uh back when I long time yes um and back when I first started using the P shaft um they entered the market with a a very good quality lightweight steel shaft um uh the first one was the um 950 GH um and then they came out with the 1050 GH which was the first neon shaft that I used um at the time I was using another competitor’s steel shaft and it was really really heavy um but yes so back then um steel was still the most consistent and graphite was sort of not as consistent in irons um so I was using as lighter weight shaft as I knew that there was um and then nipon developed a high quality um 105 G uh shaft and that’s that’s what I ended up [Laughter] using [Music] [Music] uh well I think um the shaft is the most important component in a golf club I think it has the most bearing on the Flight of the golf ball um how far you hit it um and how much control you have I I think um if you have a a a high quality shaft in any head um it’s going to perform better than a good head with a with a poor inconsistent Shar so I really think it’s the most important [Music] component yeah I think I understand that point of view that when you think you’re not good enough um you know you just use the cheapest set of clubs that you can and there’s there’s a lot of um credit behind that but I think to improve um even if you don’t hit the ball consistently getting fit for the right um clubs and the right shaes instantly helps your game instantly helps you get the ball in the air and and it creates more enjoyment um you know and that’s what we want we want to enjoy our Golf and we want to keep improving so um it’s one of the the quickest ways to to improve is to to be set um in clubs that suit your game yes and they should choose nipon shaft yes well I think what’s great about nipon shaft is that um they don’t just make shafts at the high performance level they make shafts for everybody um all the way down to the lightest steel shaft um in the world which is the zala 6 um so you know you can start as a as a junior with a zela 6 and progress all the way up to shafts that you can use to play professional go and the and the same care is taken uh for um the Sha the entry shafts into golf as it is in high performance it’s the same technology and precision um used to create the zal 6 as the motus series well I think I’m looking for a optimal launch angle um you know uh and and the flex that it’s not too loose at the top um you know that that it’s suiting my swing speed and and for me it’s you know getting the launch angle that I want and it’s not creating too much spin um so there I’ll be able to uh control it into the wind as [Music] well um what Flex do you like in clubs uh this is s yeah this is this is s uh and in my driver is a regular when I was playing onto a more um I I had a stiff I had a little bit heavier shaft I had the motus 105 and then this was um a stiff uh 55 G um but not playing as much um my body speed isn’t isn’t as fast as it was when I was playing so um you know I’ve adjusted my clubs to to suit my game today [Music] for
