Rory McIlroy – Greenside Bunker Shot (Front View)
Rory can certainly drive the ball, but his greenside bunker play is pretty sharp too.
Watch these two videos – The first one hoisted into the air; the second was a little flatter in trajectory.
Pay attention to (1) the speed of the clubhead in the early in the downswing, (2) how the wrists hinge and unhinge to create that speed, (3) where the clubface enters the sand and (4) how he “throws” the sand out of the bunker, and (5) how the clubface stays open well into the follow-through.
