Brooks Koepka: “Zero Confidence. Can’t Putt. Changes Are Coming”
Brooks Koepka missed the FedExCup Playoffs after completing the Wyndham Championship at 3-under par and delivered an exceptionally blunt assessment of his golf.
Koepka believes his ball-striking was strong throughout the week.
The problem was entirely on the greens.
“I’ve got zero confidence. I can’t putt.”
He did not identify the specific changes he intends to make, but confirmed that a significant review is coming:
“There are going to be a lot of changes here soon.”
Koepka’s frustration extends far beyond one tournament.
He said it was “pretty pathetic” that he could not advance to the Playoffs and described himself as having essentially no top-10 finishes over the past two years.
That was Koepka’s own immediate assessment after the round rather than an independently verified statistical total, but it reflects the level of disappointment he feels about his recent performance.
The most painful element for Koepka is the timing.
He considers himself to be in the prime of his career and still believes his best golf should place him among the leading players in the world.
The gap between that belief and the results has become unacceptable to him.
“I need to go home and completely reevaluate everything.”
Koepka has not yet specified whether those changes will involve equipment, putting technique, coaching, preparation, scheduling or some combination of those areas.
The only certainty is that he does not intend to accept the present level.
His competitive season is not necessarily finished. Koepka expects to play a couple of tournaments in Europe and may add several later events during the fall, although he did not identify the specific tournaments.
The interview also produced a striking contrast between Koepka’s professional frustration and his personal mood since returning to the PGA TOUR.
He says the experience of being back has been excellent.
The reception from spectators has been positive.
And away from the results, his overall happiness is:
“Ten out of ten.”
That distinction is central to understanding the moment.
Koepka is not unhappy to be competing on the PGA TOUR.
He is extremely happy to be there—and deeply dissatisfied with the golf he is producing.
