Joel Dahmen on Justin Rose: “At That Point, It Was Like… OK, You Win.”

Joel Dahmen reacts after a strong 68 and explains why it still felt like Justin Rose was in another gear. Dahmen breaks down Rose’s fearless course management, the confidence off the tee, and the shot that made everyone go “OK, you win” — a towering approach to a back-right pin that “you don’t even hit in a practice round.”

Dahmen also shares a brutally honest (and hilarious) outlook on Sunday:
“My only hope is if he doesn’t set his alarm.”

In this interview:

Dahmen’s key moments: birdie on 16, wedge on 18, and a tough divot bogey

What Rose is doing so well: driver confidence + pin hunting + instant bounce-back

Why it’s so hard to chase on Torrey’s South Course

The mindset that keeps Dahmen grounded: “It’s just golf.”

What he needs on Sunday to apply pressure early

Drop a comment: Was Rose’s shot on 7 the tournament’s “that’s game” moment?

  1. Going into the final round in the final group without a tour card on a sponsors exemption. Hes making the best of his opportunities to try to get into the top 100 owgr.

  2. I’ve been a fan of Dahmen for quite a while. Just love that “regular guy” persona. He and his decade long caddie (and closest friend) Geno amicably parted ways towards the end of last season.

Joel has to do what he has done since entering the Tour. GRIND. Which is exponentially more important in 2026 since he lost his card.

Looking good going into Sunday. Keep doing what you do, Joel.

  3. A sportsman with a personality? Who doesn’t take himself too seriously.Surely he should be banned it’s just not acceptable in this day and age 😊

  4. How can you not love Joel dahmen? He really does have a great golf game. But he’s had too much inconsistency over the years. Seems like he’s re-doubled his efforts now that he’s lost his card. Hoping for the best for him and of course Rosey who’s a fabulous golfer and person too.

  5. Hope he gets full status back this year, the tour has and needs great talent up and down the board. Last guy in the field should always be able to challenge the guys at the top, IF they put it together that week.

  6. Joel Dahman as an analyst of golf. The only reason he sniffs the leaderboard is that the current, crappy state of golf makes 25 out of the 50 best players in the world are ineligible. All these results, including Scottie, need to have an asterisk. It’s time for the commentators to stop being whores and telling us that “PGA Tour players are the best in the world”. BS. This all falls on the players. Their selfishness and greed allowed them to RUIN THE FAN EXPERIENCE. It’s time for the sponsors to reduce purses UNTIL THE PLAYERS GIVE US FULL FIELDS. Dahmen, Henley, Spain, JT, Jordan, Day, Morikawa as superstars. Yeah, right! Has-beens and journeymen.

  7. 45 is the sweet spot for professional golf. You're still young enough to have the physical attributes to execute and you also posses 20+ years of wisdom. You don't need 375 yard drives to win…….you need razor sharp ball striking, confidence and course management. Justin is dialed in. Joel nailed it with the comment about having the drive to continue. At 45 you have a life outside of golf.

  8. i love Joel and cheer for him ever since seeing him in the netflix series. i just love genuine people.
