RIZIN Landmark 12: Super Atomweight Championship, Plus Two More!
All right, welcome back to WMAC Now with your host Chuck Stevenson. So, Ryzen Landmark 12 goes down a week from today on November 3rd in Kobe Hilgo, Japan at the brand new apparently Gleon Arena Kobe. Um, and they have not one, not two, but three ladies fights capped off by a super Adam Championship. These could be some good fights. Now, it could be one some of them, one or two of them could be one-sided, but I think overall they’re going to be some pretty good fights. And certainly the the title fight is definitely something to look forward to because this is a fight that already should have happened at least a year ago. Um, no reason for it not to have happened. Uh, other than the champ just simply did not want it. and was trying to avoid. Honestly, she was trying to avoid it. Um, so let’s get into these fights and let’s let’s start at the top and work our way down. So, first up is the super Adamweight Championship, the undefeated Seeka Isawa taking on Sari Little Giant Oshima. Uh, everybody on who follows the channel regularly should be familiar with each of these ladies. Um, Iawa popped on on the scene out of nowhere. Uh, had a very fast rise. First at straw weight, then she moved down to super Adam weight and has just mostly stunned everybody. But lately, let’s be honest here, lately she’s been taking an easy path. Uh, Sari Oshima was another one who kind of like popped up onto the scene out of nowhere right around the time of uh, COVID or a little bit before that. No, no. January 2020. Yeah. Right around the time of COVID. And uh she’s another one had a fairly fast path, but that’s because she was beaten just about everybody. Um won the uh deep jewels championship in a tournament. Uh she is the deep jewels and deep microws. So yeah, there is a lot going on in this fight. And they’re both of these ladies very superb, very offensive heavy judoka. So expect both of these ladies to be hunting for the sub in this fight. Let’s look at the stats on this one. So the champ isawa undefeated at 16 and0. Little giant Oshima coming in at 15 and six. Now, of course, Oshima, I mean, Iawa undefeated, but if you look at who she’s been fighting lately, uh, she fought Connor Oakura in Connor’s retirement fight. So, Oscar had one foot out the door. That was a year ago. Nine months ago, she fought Lucia Abdelgarim, who was two and three at the time. And then earlier this year or just a few months ago, she fought Eugene Shin who was only like three and 0 at the time and had never even fought at super Adam before and ended up blowing away pretty badly. Um Oshima had did not have a the stellar uh 2024 into 2025. uh a year and change ago she dropped her Invicta debut to Andressa Romero and then uh five months ago she dropped a decision to Yi Lee. That was a huge upset. Um Oshima was injured, had a bad neck at the time, but most recently she bounced back, picked up her second win against Moreri Suda. This time it was by decision. Uh very good fight that was and you can find it still on YouTube. Um, and that was to stamp her way to this title fight. So, she’s only coming in off of one win, but it was a very good win. And honestly, I would put uh Meris Suda over Iawa’s last two opponents. Uh, Iawa is the younger fighter at 28 to 30. She is definitely the taller fighter. She’s only 5’2 at 157 cm, but compared to Oshima, who’s 4’11, 149 cm, that’s a big difference. And of course, Iawa has the reach as well. 64 in 163 cm. Uh, her reach is longer than her height, whereas Ocean is a pretty sad 57.1 in 145 cm for reach. Now, like I said, both these two are very offensive heavy juda. Uh, striking not the strong suit for either of them. Uh, has gotten better for sure. And I would say Oshima’s striking has gotten a little bit better, too. Although, I haven’t gotten to see as much of it since she went switched to a new gym. Uh, but honestly, if this spends a whole watch of time on the feet, I’ll be a little bit disappointed. Um, the odds I would say would favor Isawa. Wow. Wow. 98% on topology out of 143 picks are picking Eizawa. That’s I think that’s a little bit skewed. Um, most of them are saying by submission. I I think this goes to a decision. Um, the odds favor Iawa. However, I personally am cheering for the little giant Sawi Oshima. I sponsored her for this fight. I sponsored her for her last three fights, and this will be the fourth straight fight for the channel to sponsor her. Uh, so everybody, please get behind Oshima as well. Next fight is also at super Adam Weight Kate Lotus Oyama taking on undefeated uh Boommy Lee. Uh this was um this was a fight that came the announcement certainly came out of nowhere. Um but Kate Lotus is pretty dang popular so Ryzen seems to want to keep her active. Oh, she’s Oh, looking at typology. She’s from Hoggo, the I guess that’s the prefecture that Kobe’s in. So, that’s um maybe probably why they wanted to get her on this card particularly. Um Boommy Lee is uh the less experienced fighter. She’s still pretty new. I mean, she made her debut, pro debut last year, so the experience factor is definitely going to go into Kate Lotus on this one. Um, Typology did not add this fight to the card yet, but looking at the stats here, um, Kate Lotus coming in at 8 and seven. Lee comes in undefeated at 3-0. Kate is riding three straight wins over Juna Saki, who was only 1 and0 at the time. Uh, beat Yuri Shim, which was a pretty good win, uh, the former road FComweight champ. And then most recently she defeated Omi Tomamatsu at Deep Jewels. Uh I mean Emmy Tomasu has like one win in like something like eight fights. Yeah, her last eight fights she has one win. So not really that great of a win anymore, but it is a it is a name. Uh Lee on the other hand undefeated in three fights. Um, two of her wins are by ground and pound. Uh, her first win was by Rear Naked Choke. She hasn’t really been facing good competition either, but I mean, she’s only 3 and 0, so you don’t expect her to be facing top flight competition either. I mean a 1 and4 opponent, a opponent who was 2 and 0 at the time and then most recently or was 0 and1 I guess and uh and then uh our most recent opponent was like 0 and one at the time I think. So not really great competition but again she’s three and 0. This is like what you face when you first start or the type of opponents that realistically you should be facing when you first start. Uh let’s see. Kate Lotus I believe is the elder fighter. 27 to 26 for Lee. Uh who is the taller fighter? Uh Kate Lotus is the taller fighter. 5’5 164 centimeters to 53 160 cm for Lee. Don’t have a reach for either of them. Not surprised. Kate is a taller fighter. I mean, she started up at flyweight and then like got sick and then like lost a bunch of weight when she got sick that she was able to like go, “Hey, I can fight this lower weight now.” Um, so yeah, like I was saying, the experience factor certainly goes to Kate Lotus. I mean, 15 fights to three, literally five times the experience. Now, Kate doesn’t have a great record, but she’s made a lot of improvements in a short time because she’s another fighter. She she hopped on the scene in 2020, like late 2020 in uh yeah, December of that year, and had no martial arts background really. So, eight and seven in five years. That’s a lot of experience in a short amount of time. Um, I will I definitely expect her to be the stronger fighter and I think she’ll have the advantage on the feet. Lee should be the better fighter on the ground if she can get it there and be the fighter on top. She should definitely have the advantage there. That’s from what I’ve seen from her fights so far. Um, but you know, they basically made this fight, not only did they find a very inexperienced fighter for Kate to fight, they also basically gave Bowie like no time to fight. Like her last fight was on a Saturday on September 27th, and then Sunday, September 28th, this fight was announced. So, she’s basically coming into this with no training camp, whereas I’m pretty sure Kate was notified ahead of time to start training. So, I mean, while Lee’s coming in off of a win and still should be pretty fresh, it’s like she had no time to really prepare for this fight. No time to take a break between fights and then get basically went from fight into training camp. So really very little time for Bowie to prepare. And they did the same thing to Seikawa too because Iawa fought back in uh what was that? She fought in September and she’s fighting uh less than two months later because this is when I wanted to fight. So yeah, Ryzen really disadvant giving uh a disadvantage to uh the underdog fighters here as much as possible which is janky but to be expected in combat sports particularly JMMA man. I mean combat sports is pretty janky. MMA is even jankier and then JMMA is as janky as it gets if we’re being honest. Uh, the pick is going to be Kate Lotus. However, once again, I’m a sucker for the underdog. I’m cheering for Bowie Lee to win, pull off the upset. I think it would be hilarious um and fun because let’s be honest here, upsets are fun. Tipping the scales is fun. It it it shakes up the landscape. Also, I reached out to Bowie to sponsor her for this fight. Uh we’re trying to work something out, but it’s like fight week, so we’ll see if something happens or not. Um finally on the card, still at Super Adamweight, Neru Noel Narita taking on how do they have her? The fighter formerly known as Msaki Suda. Her current fight name is Let me see if I can find it. Uh, there it is. Nope. Uh, I forget. We’re going to go by Msaki Sudo. I’ll have the It’ll be on the picture, but I don’t have the uh picture downloaded and saved right now. So, two uh relatively inexperienced fighters coming in here. Uh pretty young as well, or at least well, Noel is very young. Sue is not. Um so, we’ll see. Um yeah, both these two are I mean, yeah, both these two fighters are just getting their start really in the sport. Uh this should just be a fun one. Uh let’s look at the stats here. So, no L coming in at two and two. Suda, uh, there’s her name, Aruka Umasaki. She picked a new fighting name for some reason. Uh, she is coming in undefeated at 2 and 0. Now, um, last three fights, Noel dropped a decision to Sion Park a year and a month ago. About 10 months ago, she defeated Ayana Hiata via submission. very nice submission to R naked choke like choked her out. And then um most recently she dropped a submission win to Mary Suda like two and a half months ago at one of the more recent Rising events. There’s no shame in that because Suda had way more experience on her. Suda is 2 and 0. She made her debut uh picking up a TKO a little over a year ago against Uni Libby Cho. Uh followers of the channel should be familiar should recognize that name. And then she picked up a split decision seven months ago against Zia Nakamura. Uh Suda is 29, the elder fighter by 12 years to the 17year-old still in high school Noel. And Suda will be the taller fighter at 5’4 163 cm to 51 155 cm. Um, Noel honestly has more pro experience. Although I think if you look at total amateur experience, she has like three amateur bouts to Suda’s. Suda did not have a good amateur record. She was two and five. Um, she did win her last amateur fight. Um, so yeah, this is a tossup. I don’t really have a pick for this one. I just hope it ends up being fun. It’ll be interesting to see who wins and uh who does better in their career because like I said, they’re both still just getting started in their career and I don’t I don’t think either fighter is being favored necessarily with this matchup, which you can’t say about the other two. like this is a pretty much a tossup I believe. So there you have it. Ryzen Landmark 12 in Kobe goes down one week from this date of this recording. It’ll happen on Monday, November 3rd. Why on a Monday? It’s a holiday in Japan that day.
