Hey everyone, welcome back to the birdie briefing. I’m Marie and this is your birdie buzz for the week of September 29th. First up, the Walmart Northwest Arkansas championship. The golf got rained out, but Walmart and the LPGA still paid out $2 million money for every player in the field and then donated 8,000 meals from the bite experience to those in need, turning a wash out into a win for the community. Next, Commissioner Craig Kesler is back with another ven diagram. He’s adding a third circle, performance, marketability, and now players willing to lean in and tell stories. He says they’ll work ruthlessly to build superstars. Bold, sure, but can you really script what makes athletes interesting? On to Lexi Thompson. She’s been open about stepping back for her mental health, and her earnings show part of the picture. Just 682,000 this season. The top stars are thriving, but mid-career pros not exactly building generational wealth. It raises questions about how sustainable the grind really is. And finally, we go over some hot takes from Michelle Wi West. Retired, but definitely not quiet. That’s your birdie buzz for the week. For deeper dives, rankings, and previews, head to birdiebrooking.com or check out the full episode anywhere you listen to podcasts. I’m Marie. See you next time on the front page of Women’s Golf.
