Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood were paired together for the RDER Cup’s fourball session on Friday where the English duo secured a narrow one-up victory over Bryson Dshambo and Ben Griffin at Beth Paige Black. The win extended team Europe’s lead to 5-2 in a tense match that was decided on the final hole. Rose admitted that Fleetwood had been the driving force behind their success. Speaking to Sky Sports after the round, the 45-year-old said, “That one was for Tommy this time, not the rest of the team. He carried me today. I felt like I put the ball in plane nicely off the tea, but Tommy made some huge putts at the right moments and that was a huge turnaround match. Obviously, my moment of the day was on the seventh when Ben hold that 60-footer and I was able to pour in from 40 ft to avoid going two down dot. I felt like that kept us in a match and then we knew we were coming into a different stretch of holes. The first few were playing somewhat easy, but then the course really showed its teeth. That is where Tommy’s ball striking and our resolve came through. Fleetwood, however, was equally gracious in victory. He expressed how much it meant to him to finally play alongside the 2013 US Open champion. He told the broadcaster, “The scoreboard is what counts.
