The Australian equipment addicts are at it again, and it is better, maybe worse, maybe worse than ever. I I don’t really know. This might just be one of the top 10 equipment stories of the year. Adam Scott is back in a conventional length putter in competition for the first time since the 2019 Open Championship, which is ironically the same year he started testing lab golf putters. He played a conventional length DF2.1 at the Masters. But 6 years later, this week at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, a conventional lab is back in the bag. The latest Osani heel shafted with a co-design Diamana gloss prototype putter shaft, 35 in with 2° of lean. And although he’s only gamed long putters the entire year up to this point, this will mark his sixth different putter in competition in 2025. The majority of the year he has played with a Mezwin Max sweeper, but early in the year he also gained a blue Oswan. At a TGL event, he had a red version as well as a black one at another match. And in route to nearly winning the US Open at Oakmont, he had this absolutely baller piece, a for master’s use only green mess. Go off, king. That may seem crazy, but our featured story today is one of the wildest I have seen in a minute. Over on Instagram, Ryan Ruffles of the Lads posted this video of Jason Day hitting a shot. You notice anything interesting? How about now as we zoom in? Those do not look like steel shafts. That is a jumbo grip. And that head right there does not look like the tailor-made P7 CB he was previously gaming in competition. It’s because it isn’t. In Jason Day’s latest YouTube video, he was seen gaming a full set of Avoda Golf Origin irons. And based on what I’m seeing in terms of the finish, plus a little bit in the top line, I think these are the curved model, the irons with face bulge. He also has the Avotas in the gap and sand wedges as well. In terms of the exact shafts, it’s tough to tell. I’m going to guess the KBS TGI either 100 or 110. Both are very stiff. And then as far as grips, probably the Jumbo Max JMX Zen Light, either standard oversized or standard jumbo. His lob wedge remains a Vokei. I believe it’s an Eller M grind 60° with his traditional S400. But of course, that’s not all for Jason. The last time he played in competition, he was gaming one of the new Tailor-Made Spider Tours. But in the latest lad’s YouTube video, that putter is no more. He has gone back to an old faithful Japan model, Tailor-Made Itsybitsy Spider. This itsybitsy model did not come with a short slant neck like we know and love today. So Tailormade actually had to custom make him this one. He uses the putter in route to a ridiculous year on the greens in 2015. Tailorade does a limited drop of 20 of these. The spider trend starts to catch on. Now it is probably the most popular putter in the entire world. Really all thanks to Jason Day starting the trend. Few takeaways here. How long is the HS going to last for Adam Scott? I’m guessing no more than a month. I mean he’s crazy and he loves the sweeper. So I could see him going back at literally any time. The Avotas for Jason Day. This is going to be interesting. He switches irons like people switch underwear. So maybe they’ll do something custom with them like they did for Bryson. I’m not really sure.
