At 85, Jack Nicklaus FINALLY Opens Up On Allegations…

Picture this. It’s 1962. A chubby kid from Ohio walks onto a golf course. He has zero professional wins. The crowd is screaming for Arnold Palmer. Palmer is golf’s first movie star. He’s the King. He already has five major titles. And here comes this unknown rookie. The fans are brutal. They’re shouting “Fat Jack” at him. They want him to fail. They want Palmer to win.

  1. GOAT!!! So many "favorite Jack moments" but I reckon his 1986 Masters Sunday back 9 and the culminating hug and embrace with his son Jackie after finishing hole 18, who was caddying for him, sums up his career and his character perfectly…

  2. Shortly before he retired from the Boston Celtics in April 1978, John Havlicek was asked to name the toughest basketball player he ever played against. This was a man who played against Julius Irving, Elgin Baylor, Rick Barry, and Bill Bradley, yet Havlicek never named any of them. He said the toughest basketball he ever played against was Jack Nicklaus. Havlicek said no one could shut him down like Nicklaus could.

  3. Of course, technology evolves thorough the years, and Jack would be right at the top of the tree if he was in his prime in todays game. But I have reasonable doubt about whether Tiger would be so dominant if he was playing in the 60's and 70's, and even into the 80's before the technology took such a leap forward. My vote unanimously goes to The Golden Bear as the GOAT.

  4. If your going to show a sign with Nicklaus ahead by 4 strokes … Don't say he is down by 5 …. try a little harder please …

  5. I met Jack in 1971 at the Westchester Classic in Harrison, New York and followed him around on the back nine in the last round when he shot a 31. On one of those holes he overshot the green by a few yards – but he took out his club and and swung that club with an absolute authority of god and the ball landed near the hole. His swing is indelibly etched on my mind. Jack is my second favorite athlete ever – Mickey Mantle is of course my first. No one EVER will replace or dislodge the Mick. And speaking of heroes – NO ONE will ever replace my Dad.

  6. I can’t stand videos when obvious statements are easily disproved. Jack IS NOT the only player to have won the career grand slam 3 times. Tiger also did that. 5 Masters. 3 US Opens. 3 Open Championships. 4 PGA Championships.

    Give me a break.

  7. Thank god Arnold Palmer had passed before all those LIV exhibition golfers formed their Bogus League that defaced the history of golf for the greed of money! They multi millionaires already through endorsements and play! And perks! Sad to see jack Nicklaus experience this!

  8. Jack Nicklaus was Tigers hero growing up physically Can you imagine if he emulated jack’s character! Tiger finally grew up and is a better person and family man! You can tell he’s enjoying life! And I’m happy for him!

  9. Misleading title, however I agree with every single thing you said, especially the argument about golf equipment. The newer, far more forgiving and easier to hit gear gives the less talented players much more of a chance. You had to be the absolute best back then to win.

  10. Plus he was and is a Great Father to his whole family ! Never cheated on his wife , would fly home during tournaments to be at son’s football games and fly back to tournament. He is the GOAT !!!

  11. The case you've laid down is airtight. Tiger may have been more spectacular is his prime…but Jack's body of work is incomparable!

  12. Still remember the 86 Masters my buds thought I was Crazy saying he could win it on Sunday ! 😊

  13. Trevino and Watson beat Nicklaus more often than they beat him. Nicklaus also played in far more major tournaments than Tiger Woods

  14. Jack holed that famous downhill putt on 17th green at Augusta Masters in 1986 – with that big “hotdog” putter –

  15. Once again Billy Casper was left out as one of his competitors. Billy won 51 times. Tiger won 21.7% of the tournaments he played in. Jack won 12.5%.

  16. Jack won at Oakmont in ‘62. Arnie’s home town. Arnie was embarrassed for the hometown fans who heckled Fat Jack. An incredible feat!

  17. Jack is so far ahead of Woods as a player and person it's ridiculous and impertinent to even attempt to compare them.
Only people with no real knowledge (or none at all) of the game's history ever try to do so.

  18. Wonder what the specs are for fairways hit between Jack and Tiger. We know Tiges was wild off the tee , specially the young tiges striping it, but he got outta trouble brilliantly. Guess Jack was a little too straight to wow the crowds as much.

  19. Jack also had scholarships to play Division-1 basketball and tennis at THE Ohio State University. Yeah, THAT Ohio State University.

  20. Informative narration, but I think, ala the fade, that he was following Hogan (who he knew was a purer ball-striker); the controlled, consitant fade took the left side completely out of the picture (as Hogan wrote) , plus (very importantly) it allows for a mentally mellower head space- you know where the ball is going into that narrower slice of fairway. You can fire hard w/o the dreaded, unruly snap-hook. Even a fade can hit and run a long ways. Give up a fraction of distance, but lessen missed fairways and get closer to flags.

  21. Another thing, At the risk of being framed as a "bigot (in a generation where morals are both unreal andat the same time, detestable (and "oppressive"), Jack ended up ahead of Tiger, because Tiger literally "F-ed up". He lacked the discipline that would shield his soul from the troubles that blew him apart. His father taught him mental strength, but not about applying such strength in saying "no" to the allurements (which must have been massive and constant) that waylaid him. If he had walked in Jack's moral space, Tiger would have gone, maybe a lot, above anybody, including even Jack, even with his only semi-repeating swing.
