「よし、戻る！」車中決断の神久保美咲、初出場コースで最高のスタート
「よし、戻ろう！」。車で次の仕事先である名古屋へ向かっていた神久保美咲は、一本の電話をきっかけに突然ハンドルを切り返した。電話の内容は、なんと「出場推薦が決まった」との知らせだった。場所は横浜・戸塚カントリー倶楽部。3日後に開催される「資生堂 JALレディスオープン」への出場権を得たのだ。「せっかくのチャンス、逃す理由なんてない」。そう決意し、彼女はその日のうちに現地へ引き返した。
練習ラウンドすら行えない状況で、火曜日の夕方にコース入り。それでも「この舞台に立てるだけでうれしい」と笑顔を見せる。今季2戦目となるレギュラーツアーの舞台。初めて立つティーグラウンド、初めて見るグリーン――すべてが新鮮な中、神久保は初日を4バーディ・2ボギーの「70」、2アンダーの7位と好発進を決めた。「正直、自分でもびっくりしています」。サポートしてくれたキャディーのアドバイスを頼りに、「とにかくフェアウェイを狙って、前から攻めることを意識しました」と、強い日差しの中でも冷静にプレーを重ねた。
6月22日に行われた下部ツアー「ユピテル・静岡新聞SBSレディース」では、最終日に最終組でプレーし4位入賞。その翌週は、師匠・中嶋常幸の主宰する「トミーアカデミー」で合宿に参加。そこで耳にしたのが、同門の新鋭・入谷響が「ニチレイレディス」でツアー初優勝を果たしたという朗報だった。「（中嶋）先生から『響、どれだけ練習してると思う？』って聞かれて、本当にすごいなって。私ももっと頑張らなきゃって思いました」。
これまでレギュラーツアーでは9試合に出場し、まだ予選通過の経験はない。それでも神久保は前を向く。「目標は、ステップアップツアーでの優勝と、レギュラーツアーでの予選通過」。突然舞い込んだチャンスを、彼女は「運命」と捉え、確実に自分の成長に変えていこうとしている。
Misaki Kamikubo made a surprise comeback to the tour with a bold decision that turned heads. On her way to Nagoya for another engagement, she received an unexpected call recommending her for entry into the Shiseido JAL Ladies Open. With no hesitation, she turned her car around and declared, “Well, I’m going back!” Arriving at the course in Yokohama on Tuesday evening, she hadn’t even had time for a practice round. Yet, with sheer determination and focus, she made her first-ever appearance on the course one to remember.
In sunny conditions at the Totsuka Country Club West Course in Kanagawa, Kamikubo teed off with no prior knowledge of the course layout. Everything — from the tee boxes to the greens — was new. But with the support of a local house caddy guiding her through course management, she played smart, avoiding risky back positions and focusing on solid, forward play. The result? A composed round of 70 with 4 birdies and 2 bogeys — an impressive 2-under that placed her in 7th on day one.
This was only her second start of the regular season, the first being at the Daikin Orchid Ladies. Yet her momentum has been building. Just two weeks earlier, she earned 4th place at the lower tour’s Yupiteru Shizushin Ladies, where she made her first final-group appearance. During her off-week, Kamikubo trained at the Tommy Academy under respected coach Tsuyoshi Nakajima, alongside rising rookie star Iriya Hibiki — who recently captured her first tour title at the Nichirei Ladies. Seeing Hibiki’s breakthrough lit a fire in Kamikubo, fueling her own ambition.
Despite participating in nine regular tour events, Kamikubo has yet to break through with a qualification. But now, with sharpened skills and renewed motivation, she’s determined to turn this unexpected opportunity into something much bigger. Her eyes are set on winning a Step-Up Tour event and finally qualifying on the regular tour — a dream she’s chasing with everything she has.
