My name is Erich and I live in Italy welcome to my channel. I used to play golf on and off for many years, but I started my journey again about 8 years ago, changing my swing completely.

My goal is to become a single figure handicap golfer in the near future.

To achieve this goal, I built my own backyard putting green and set up a backyard golf net. I love playing in my backyard green, doing drills, club reviews and playing at the range and at the course to get better at the game and ultimately reach my goal (hopefully).

  1. Hi Erich, I suggest you check only the club head speed, not the ball speed because the influence on the strike is too significant. If you swing max speed, you can have strange results with less ball speed even if your club head speed is improving. In my opinion, you should try to increase the club head speed with the speed training you explained and only after checking the ball speed or the carry distance. by Carlo

  2. I’m curious, how much of a difference a ball makes in ball speed. Could you lose speed by using a softer ball? Is there much difference? Phil is taller too.

  3. Cool video, I also have practiced the tips from Phil. Also found some other tips that worked well:
    1. working on my flexibility, focus on open chest and shoulders and if you have stiff lower back/hips. And strength to increase throw and jump motions
    2. warm up good and be loose, not to stiff – that will make you lose speed
    3. sit on knees and swing fast if your upper body is slower than the legs
    4. try to make as a big arch as possible in the swing, and also getting the "whip" motion (release) as near impact as possible.

My average was around 145, now i am around 161-162. Aiming to get 170, with increasing strenght and flexibility.

  4. Stretching, gym and learning how to whip a shaft with no head on it will get you the speed, id get a swing speedmeter too

  5. Overload training will always help in time. Consistency in the training will be very important. Keep it up.
