I hope Trump gets the chance to even try to get peace. Our American leaders, I am afraid, will go too far and make peace impossible before Trump swears in. They seem to be determined to have WWIII.
I think the ISU owes Russia and Belarus an apology because it was wrong and hypocritical to ban them over Ukraine. Especially considering Putin tried so hard not to have to even go into Ukraine. Ukraine was killing ethnic Russian Ukrainians in the Donbass region of Ukraine since 2014 (14,000 dead) before Putin did anything. I know it's figure skating and people get mad I talk politics but it's the fault of the ISU for bringing its hypocritical brand of politics to figure skating.
I want Russia and Belarus given an apology. They should be invited back next season no matter what happens politically. I will be happy to cheer the Russians on from my home in Kentucky. I want their anthem played when they win Gold medals, and they should hold their heads up high.
I know America has ice dancers and Ilan that are either Russian-American or just skating for America and I don't like when American and western figure skating fans get mad when you say anything about them being Russian. I like Russians and always have so I hope Russia is proud of Illan's success because he is ethnically Russian. He looks like a Russian skater, and I like it.
I hate that Russia no longer puts its competitions on YouTube but I am not mad at Russia for this. I try to catch all the YouTube videos I can find. I can never find Khudaberdieva/Bazin's performances from this season online and it kills me because I love them and they are skating to Mozart and I want to see it all.
ISU Figure Skating is not very good without Russia. I think Russia motivates all the other figure skaters to be better.
I miss Figure Skating like it was with Russia involved. The truth is I don't even care about quad jumps so it's not that I miss those jumps; it's something else unexplainable they bring that I miss so much. Pairs Skating is just not worth watching without the Russian.
