PGA Championship purse is WHAT?!?
I think it’s interesting how the PGA Championship has a purse of $17.5 million but the Wells Fargo just last week has a purse of 20 million so when you play one of the most prestigious championships in the sport you’re actually competing for less of a payout overall now there’s obviously a huge Prestige bump when winning the PGA Championship versus winning the Wells Fargo but I would argue that a small portion of the tournament’s prestige comes from the purse being as high as it is now don’t get me wrong the majority of the players in the field don’t need this money and it’s still a massive pures they’re competing for I just wouldn’t be surprised if the PGA raises their purses to stay above the PG tours elevated events in the future
