In the opening round of the 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open, Justin Thomas carded a 7-under 64, good enough for a share of the lead heading into Friday along Rickie Fowler and Harold Varner III.

The Waste Management Phoenix Open is the Greatest Show on Grass. The tournament is held at TPC Scottsdale, near Phoenix, AZ. Phil Mickelson, Jon Rahm and defending champion Gary Woodland join the event in Arizona. In 2018, Gary Woodland beat Chez Reavie with a par on the first hole of a playoff on Sunday.
