  1. So is it just my old eyes or did the green(s) that the announcer said on the first hole “ looked just fantastic” in the condition of todays fairways ? Lol not even the best fairways ,with actual mow lines like a fairway ….am only at the first hole so far in the video so maybe its just the camera angle for this hole … but when jack putted that long first putt he really powered it ,on a downhill putt? ..so either the green was in todays fairway condition ,or, the camera angle was crazy, and catching mow lines that werent really visible ….or am i just crazy 😜

  2. A bygone era. Back when golf wasn’t a huge money making business. And no we don’t need more people playing golf we need more people respecting golf.

  3. Surprises me how "bumpy" the greens were in juxtaposition to today's perfect surfaces that modern tracks display. Even local "munis" have smoother greens than what we saw here

  4. Here I am in 2023, watching this very old game from 1963 for the very first time, and I enjoy watching it.

  5. The greatest of all time, but these greens are so tall that you can’t mess up. It stops, never rolls out away, it’s like putting on 2023 fairways. The slower the greens the easier the course. Less break. They are bending these putters ha

  6. I caddied at the 2000 US Open at Pebble…number 1 was a 3-4 iron and a wedge…Jack hit 3 wood 8 iron…the young guys have no idea how much harder the game used to be….

  7. The language, depth, and cadence of the commentators was so much better than the illiterate garbage today. It presents far more professional. This was a better time in many ways.

  8. Sneads 1 iron, wow. Great work around the green. Also noticed how Jack really releases that club, amazing timming. ❤ they should really bring back those flag guys and explosion shots 🙏

  9. Seems like the greens were rougher back then
The way the ball hops and curves looks like a croquet match in a average yard

  10. What a great match, absolutely fantastic.
Few things spring to mind: how beautiful was Sam Sneads swing, the tempo? Just sweet.
Also, I love the greens back then, better than nowadays (specifically meaning the method of how they make them now, so many different layers; they're deader)
& to think this was the year jfk was assassinated…

Anyway, grt putt on the last Jack! 😂 nicked it from him. So nice to hear Jack's thoughts

  11. If we had spear-wielding ball spotters at our club, we could shorten the average comp round by a good margin!

  12. Thank you to everyone who made this footage what it is and for bringing it to us. Such a privilege to see how golf was played, the courses, the commentary, some of the shot names ("explosion shot") and to revel in the delight of the game. I will share this with our members, many of whom will probably remember this match from their younger days. Cheers from Sydney – Dave
