元プロ野球選手で野球解説者の東尾修さんと、娘むこでタレントの石田純一さんが12月9日、西武池袋本店（東京都豊島区）で行われた、スヌーピーらが登場するマンガ「PEANUTS」の連載開始65周年記念イベントに登場。会見で、石田さんと東尾理子さんの間の息子で、東尾さんの孫で2歳になった理汰郎くんの成長について聞かれた東尾さんは「大きくなった」と目を細め、「トランポリンをやってるみたいで、（体の）バネ（のよさ）を感じる」と話し、「適正はしっかり見るけど……（将来は）野球がいいよね」と期待を寄せた。
さらに、東尾さんは「（理汰郎くんがゴムの）ボールを投げたりするよな」と話を振られた石田さんは「瓶に石を当てたりするので、コントロールはおじいちゃん譲りだと思います」と話した。続けて東尾さんが石田さんに「頭（のよさ）は？」と質問すると、石田さんは「まだですよ……」と苦笑していた。
同イベントは、「PEANUTS 65th Anniversary Event～It’s Party Time， SNOOPY！」と題して、「PEANUTS」の連載65周年を祝うアニバーサリーイベントで、29日まで同百貨店・別館2階で開催され、その後は神奈川、千葉、愛知、広島と全国で開催される。営業時間は午前10時～午後8時。入場料は一般・大学生が500円（高校生以下は無料）。

Former professional baseball player and baseball commentator Osamu Higashio and his adopted son-in-law, media personality Junichi Ishida, appeared at an event to celebrate the 65th anniversary of serialization of the manga “”PEANUTS”, in which Snoopy and others appeared, held at Seibu Ikebukuro (Toshima-ku, Tokyo) on December 9th.
At the press conference, when being asked about the growth of Ritaro (Osamu’s 2 years- old grandson and the son of Ishida and Riko Higashio), Osamu squinted: “”He has grown bigger! “”, “”It’s like you’re playing with a trampoline, you can feel the spring (the good) (of the body)!””, and said with high expectation: “ I can see clearly that he’s really suitable… (In the future) baseball might be a good choice for him!”” ”
