One of the most requested golfers on our little channel here, Michelle Wie has quite the following internationally, as well as the US. Although 2016 might not have gone the way Michelle may have liked, one of the best things we can do to prepare for 2017 is to review one of her rounds at her peak.
Here is Michelle’s 3rd round from the 2014 US Women’s Open held at Pinehurst CC, NC. It was quite the joy to edit as nearly every other shot had me doing a couple replays just for the fun of it. (Just look at the geometry and leverage she’s able to pull off!) The theme of this round is “CONTAINMENT”. She encounters trouble with a double bogey at 11, followed with a bogey at 12. Watch how Michelle deals with the challenge of a slipping back 9 with solid putting and iron play. At the post round interview Michelle notes the heat may have taken a toll on her concentration at that point in the round.
With every additional competition round she gets with her swing and putting style, I would expect her confidence in what she can do with the golf ball to grow tremendously. Here’s to hoping for a strong recovery.

Michelle Wie has covergirl looks, a Stanford education, and a great golf swing, so, why does she have only four wins and a major at the end of 2018? I've heard that she was bullied on tour when she first came up, and that might have hurt her a lot. Plus, there's two more things: she's a lot taller than the average girl in the LPGA, and she's had a lot of injuries. For sure the injuries set her back, and as crazy as it sounds, I think her intelligence, good looks, and height make her stand out to a value that engendered destructive envy. Maybe her superlatives backfired and made it difficult for her to find friends.
Life is lonely on tour & maybe it was too lonely for Michelle for a while. Now, however, she has tall girls like Nelly Korda & Lexi Thompson to play with, so, she's no longer a "freak", plus she's got a determined "let's have fun" attitude. Fortunately, she also seems to have a friends in crazy girls, Danielle Kang & Ha Na Jang to lighten her spirit. All of that make Michelle's life on tour and between the ropes better.
To sum it up, I don't expect Michelle to ever catch Paula Creamer in total victories, but I do expect her to win two more and a major in the 2 -3 years she has left. Two majors, 7-8 wins, lots of money, & some friends – that's not as her looks & golf swing promised, but it ain't bad. Most of us would take it, but how will it play with Michelle, someone who was born with such looks and talent that we all expected her career to have the arc of an American fairy tale?

I must pay tribute to Michelle Wie's parents, They "played the game" right In my opinion, They were able to maximize Michelle's earning power when She turned pro, with that money, Michelle was able to get a Stanford education, which In turn, Allowed Her to "grow up" In public & on the LPGA tour….Now with this marriage, I think this signals Michelle "saying goodbye" to golf at least for a considerable time because I think that She Is going to have a family with Her husband Jonnie West, Hopefully a large family, So congratulations to Michelle & Jonnie and their family & friends….In Closing, some people will say that Michelle's golf career was "unfulfilled", Maybe….But If Michelle Wie was destined to win only one major, She picked the right one, Her country's national open on a "legendary" course that Is mentioned on the level as a St Andrews or Pebble Beach for example, The 2014 US Women's Open at Pinehurst…."they" can never take It away from Her, Thank you.
