Phil Mickelson REACTS To Rory McIlroy's LIV Comments



Phil Mickelson is one of the most controversial golfers right now. He was under fire from another LIV golfer not long ago, and it wasn’t a pretty sight. Phil Mickelson didn’t want to “disturb what was going on” at the LIV Golf Team Championship at Trump National Doral in Miami. Still, a recent Rory McIlroy interview was too juicy to pass up.
Mickelson praised McIlroy during a press conference ahead of the season finals of the upstart circuit, saying the “we vs. them” attitude between LIV Golf and players on the PGA and D.P. World circuits had grown out of hand.

The Greg Norman-led enterprise is financially supported by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which has spared no cost. Building a new golf series is complex, but LIV has attracted some of the game’s top players, like Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, and Cameron Smith. However, when you have hundreds of millions of dollars to toss about, the issues that come with developing a business become less difficult.

According to Sports Illustrated, LIV Golf spent $784 million in its first year, with another $1 billion pledged for next year when the series expands to a 14-event league.

In terms of global enthusiasm, LIV has staged eight events so far in the United States, England, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia.

  3. I don’t understand the problem here at all. There’s not one person who could say, if they were offered twice as much to do the same job they were currently doing, that they’d stay put – not a chance. it’d be a no brainer. Stop being so holier than tho.

  19. I don't understand any of this. The NBA would still be fractured, the NFL was 2 different organisations, baseball had the different leaves, football has the premier league and champions league which all evolved over time why not golf? Rory needs to shut his fresh mouth

  21. LIV has no future, and must radically restructure just to generate appeal; unless your plan is to burn currency as a business model.

  26. I don't understand why they don't let athletes like golfers or fighters to compete in other organisation's. Its good for the overall business.

  32. Liv golf is just a boring exhibition match with just only 3 or 4 worth to watch golfers. Totally 😴 for the golf fans. And easy money 💰 for golfers. You won't see them competing with the hunger in their eyes anymore.

  33. More power to Phil. I dont get Rory's bitching. He's like that ex-girlfriend who goes stalker mode and trashes her ex-boyfriend in Phil. Phil does not owe the PGA anything. If MANY PGA players jumped ship, then wouldn't the fault be at how much the PGA really sucks?

  34. Pretty interesting a guy born and raised in Ireland that LEFT Europe PGA to play in AMERICA is going to bitch and complain about a BUSINESS decision made by other PGA golfers! Go back and play where you're from quit being a hypocrite!! Same with any other foreign players complaining about the LIV tour!!
