In the final round of The American Express 2023, Xander Schauffele earned the rarest bird of them all, an albatross, as he scored a two on the par-5 5th hole.

Albatross way over hole in one. You're able to hole it off a lie that you have to hit off from.
Please stop saying “double eagle”
Both. An ace on a par 4 (;
Albatross is better score wise and is rarer, so albatross
Ace on a par4 but albatross over ace on par 3
Hmmm if i was on Masters on sunday albatross but any other day hole in one (of course if on par 3)
I mean I've had both but an albatross is less likely to happen than a hole-in-one if you didn't know that
Believe it or not, odds are better for a hole in one compared to an albatross
And an albatross gets you 3 under on the hole. Usually a hole in one is 2 under.
Unless you can drive a par 4 green.
Albatrosses are cooler and generally more difficult.
X-Man Super power
I have both 🤷🏾♂️
I have come close quite a few times. I have only one Ace.
Albatross is complete luck. You have near zero control, nor repeatability with that length of shot.
Congratulations Xander. 3 under par on one golf hole. We mortals can go 3 over par on one golf hole ⛳️ .
Why is the official PGA tour account posting someone filming their tv with a camera, like y'all own the footage
is there any prize for albatross?
Already had an Albert Ross (thanks auto correct)
So I’ll take the ace please.
To be fair my 2 on a par 5 was not very satisfying, it was a good drive followed by a scabby thin 3 wood that ran and ran over the brow of a low hill to the green, I didn’t even see it go in, I just found it in the hole after looking everywhere else. But I’ll take it.
eh I hit albatrosses all the time down by the shore
Albatross no question.
Good Good effect
Albatros for scoring but Ace for prestige
Matt scharff has entered the chat
I’m scratch handicap and have done an albatross but not an hole-in-one yet
I’ve only had 1 albatross, 3 holes in 1. Unless you count par3 courses then it’s closer to 12 holes in 1. So more albatrosses.
I saw this LIVE and I wondered how much he made it over the water by? Looked like inches
I just had an ace two weeks ago and yesterday lined out on par.5 for albatross & I was thinking the same thing —- Not a chance I’d take the albatross over the hole in one ☝️!
I'll take my Albatross all day long. Any chancer with a 7 iron has thought about a hole in one from any given par three. I guarantee that no one is stepping up to tee off on a par five expecting a Albatross. It's two great shots back to back. So rare. HIOs are common by comparison.
Double eagle is the stupidest shut I’ve ever heard
Hole in one on a par 4. Two birds, one stone. Been playing 35yrs and the closest i got was on a driveable par 4. Guy on the next tee watching said it lipped. Finished 3 inch behind. I'll keep trying lol.
I've had one Albi thx to a cart path and some hard pan soil
I'll take the albatross. Anyone can get an ace.
I'm sorry but, a double eagle does not exist. Please call it an Albatross as one announcer did or say triple birdie. Pet peeve.
I have 3 hole in ones but an albatross is impossible for me
👏👏👏
